Henry Cavill’s 007 audition was fantastic,” said Martin Campbell, director of Casino Royale.
during an interview with The Expressthe filmmakers revealed new details about Cavill’s 007 screen test.
“He looked great at the audition,” he said. “His performance was great. And you know, if Daniel hadn’t existed, Henry would have made a great Bond. He looked great, had a great physique, and was very handsome and chiseled.” He just looked a little younger then.”
Famously, Cavill just missed out on the role of 007 when casting for the 2006 hit Casino Royale took place. The role, of course, went to Daniel Craig. But Campbell believes Cavill simply missed the chance to play the iconic British super-spy. At the time, Cavill was only 23 years old, so his casting would have made him the youngest Bond ever.
“It ended up being me and Daniel, and I was told that, but I was the younger option,” Cavill said in an interview. Interview with Josh Horowitz. “They obviously chose Daniel, and I think it was a great choice to pick Daniel. I probably wasn’t ready at the time, and I think Daniel has done a great job in his past films, so they I am happy that you made that choice.”
It’s no secret that 007 producers are now eyeing the next James Bond after Daniel Craig left the series with No Time To Die. Could Cavill ever play Bond? “By the time Daniel arrives, [No Time To Die] In fact, he was too old to be alone,” Campbell said. “I think they signed three bonds, but I’m not 100% sure of that. [Brosnan] When we signed him on, he had to sign on three. So that would probably take 6 years of his life?suspect daniel [had] Same deal. And the next person will have to do it too.
“Henry’s 40, so he’ll be 50 by the time he’s finished the third one. Beyond that, it’s going to take two or three years for each Bond. He’s doing great, Henry, he’s Good guy, he did very well at the audition, but ironically he was too young.”
The next Bond film is said to be a “complete reinvention” of the series, with producers reportedly looking for someone younger, ideally in their 30s.
IGN’s review of Casino Royale gave it a 9/10 rating, stating: “The crux of Fleming’s story has always been how Bond, after suffering at the hands of Le Chiffre and then facing even greater pain, realizes his place in the world, and how he must Track the threats behind the threats that were In other words, James Bond has his balls back, literally and figuratively, and the strength of his testicles is exactly what the 44-year-old series has needed over the years. “
