Toxic Crusaders was a curious cartoon for children in the early 1990s. no for children. I never saw the comics and probably never aired outside the US, but I am familiar with the Toxic Avenger series it was based on. But they’re all incredibly silly, with varying levels of aggression, and often obscenely violent.
It’s basically Troma Entertainment house style, and the newly announced Toxic Crusaders video game looks to celebrate Troma as much as the Crusaders themselves. Early 90’s Toxic Crusaders gamethis new one is a side-scrolling beat ’em up a street of rage, or more recently, Shredder’s RevengePlayable characters include Toxie, No-Zone, Junkyard, Major Disaster, Headbanger, Yvonne and Mrs. Junko.
Of interest, at least to me, are the references to other Troma films. Apparently this game has Class of Nuke ‘Em High, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, and Sgt. As you’d expect from retro-style side-scrolling action, four-player local co-op is supported by his seven Troma-themed stages. Developed by Retroware, Toxic Crusaders will be released later this year. vapor.
And while we’re on the topic, there’s also a new Toxic Avenger movie on the way, starring Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Peter Dinklage, and more. If you’re keen on indulging in the excessive stupidity of Troma Project I wouldn’t say I recommended it, but it might be worth checking out.
