who made it
Nintendo is behind this, making the NA Digital-only release even more amazing.
what is the premise?
Tap and press buttons to the beat of a series of funky songs — it’s a rhythm game. Tsunku is in charge of the composition here as well, and the tracks that follow ooze with style.
Megamix also has a (loose) story involving a journey to Heaven World. I’ll admit it’s not a very engaging plot, but it’s enough to keep the rhythmic gameplay hanging for hours, so I can’t complain.
why should i play?
As the name suggests, Rhythm Heaven Megamix is like the franchise’s “best of” mixtape, but this doesn’t suggest that the game doesn’t bring anything new to the table.
The series has never been as big a hit globally as it was in Japan, so this entry serves as an excellent summary of everything it clicks. Vibrant, the song is quick enough to get even those of us challenged to the rhythm on tap.
Like the best rhythm games, this is a title that’s easy to grasp but hard to master. I found that it is easy to satisfy
A physical copy was available in Europe, but it’s a shame large audiences will miss this digital-only version.
How much is it?
$29.99USD / £24.99 / 29,99€A little expensive for a rhythm game? Probably, but any fan of the series will tell you it’s worth it. Developed in-house at Nintendo and with hours of gameplay at your fingertips, this brilliant showcase of the series is worth every chance you get. There’s even a demo you can try first!
