The Last of Us on HBO One of the best TV game TV adaptations I’ve ever seen, but it’s not that’s all A game you want to see all seasons.
It proved possible to faithfully recreate the in-game story. With time and care, you can create something truly special. In other words, a previous experience while remaining independent as a companion piece to the game you love.
So that got us thinking. What other games would you like to get the TV show treatment for? Here are our suggestions.
half life
The adventures of Gordon Freeman are desperate for a TV adaptation. We interviewed Half-Life writer Mark Laidlaw. my blogI asked him about making it into a movie.
The answer, frankly, was astonishing. He talked about features helmed by either sci-fi legends Paul Verhoeven, Peter Jackson, or the creatively inspired Guillermo del Toro. We’ll make something out of this world, and the focus varies, from Verhoeven’s scientific lore to Del Toro’s twisted horror visuals.
Whoever takes it on can tell the story of a terrifying, claustrophobic escape from Black Mesa, followed by the 1984-like sprawl of City 17 with brutal efficiency.

fire watch
Firewatch for beginners is an incredibly emotional single-player game that tells the story of Henry. A man escapes his misery with his wife by taking a job as a national park ranger. During this time, he uncovers intrigues and dark mysteries in the Shoshone National Forest while forging a relationship via walkie-talkie with Delilah, a lookout from the neighboring tower.
I can’t say much more without spoiling the game, but just think how great that story would be on a TV show! It can mean that you have so much more time to really connect to your motives.
Plus, it’s a lovable, relatable tale that delivers a gut punch at every moment possible.

dark soul
I know what you’re thinking, a Dark Souls adaptation can go wrong in a million ways. It’s not hard to imagine how the Lord of the Rings can be bastardized into a fantasy schlock that suffers from a bit too much generic narrative (many fantasy tales are like) ).
But with vision, a Dark Souls adaptation could turn that lonely atmosphere into an episodic format that lends itself to the silence that Souls has always strived for. I could imagine a Dark Souls series that would provide a seamless transition to television format by revolving around the struggle of one individual in a dead world that has been destroyed. To stay in line with what we love most, it would only benefit from equally minimal dialogue, harrowing monster designs, and framing that focuses on the world’s astounding environments.
Of course, this is just a pipe dream. To fully sell Dark Souls content requires a budget that few shows can afford (like Game of Thrones and The Rings of Power). There are good reasons to splurge on environments and monsters, so it makes more sense for it to be a one-off movie, but even then, if you don’t have a solid grasp of what makes this series so special, it’s completely worthless. Anyway, I’m a dreamer and I often think about what this might look like.

world of warcraft
Animated video game adaptations have been around for a long time (remember 1997’s Donkey Kong Country?), but it’s only recently that companies have started taking them seriously. To name a few examples of animations we’ve seen recently, all three have amazing ratings.
You can’t help but wonder what comes next. Laptop Mag Resident World of Warcraft Geek, I know exactly what I want. Yes, there used to be Warcraft movies, but they weren’t particularly good (although I enjoyed them). Instead, I’m looking for a sprawling epic that reimagines some of Warcraft’s key historical figures and takes us back to a time well before anything we’ve played in WoW itself. Given the right budget, I’d love to see how all of my favorite locations could be recreated within the animation space.
Blizzard produce several short animations right before each expansion release, and I love them, especially Warbringers: Azshara, which gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. I look forward to it being applied throughout. Please, please blizzard! Give it to me!

final fantasy VII
This was a tough one as it could easily be a Final Fantasy IV, VI, VIII, IX, or X post. I would love to see Cloud and the gang in live action, preferably in a movie or TV series. That way, the story has room to breathe and non-gamers can really get to know the game and the characters I’ve loved over the years. Ten years.
Additionally, think about set pieces. Can you imagine a live-action Midgar? Upper Floors glossy and modern but eerily sanitized juxtaposed against the gritty despair of Sector 5 slums? Aerith, an oasis of beauty amidst the ruins how about the garden of Even better, think of a fight scene. From Cloud’s swordsmanship to Tifa’s martial arts to Barrett’s guns, unforgettable action awaits. And as long as we have CGI, we’re not going to say no to live-action Red XIII and Cait Sith. With the right script to keep being, it could be a big hit.
