All 76 of the 100 most played games on Steam are verified or playable with Steam decks (opens in new tab), at least a milestone that shows developers are crazy about Valve’s handheld gaming PCs.If all these people are watching it probably means things are going well on the player side as well
This Linux Gaming Blog boiling steam (opens in new tab) We first noticed that 73 of the 97 games in the top 100 (excluding Wallpaper Engine, Soundpad, and Source SDK Base 2007) are playable or verified with Steam Deck. I took this one step further and looked at the following three games to round out that 100. (opens in new tab)kill the Spire (opens in new tab)Brotato all work well in the deck.
This gives a not-so-smooth result of 76 out of 100. Suspiciously, it seems to be a review score for PC gamers. Or like 19 out of 25. 38 out of 50? In any case, these games are either verified (meaning that Valve believes they should work fine) or playable (with one or two caveats (the on-screen keyboard is required to enter text). or behaves with (e.g. poorly scaled interface)).
However, there are major exceptions. The 21 games out of the top 100 that don’t work with Steam Deck are mostly old marquee, heavily played games that contain extensive anti-cheat software. Does not exist on Linux. We’re talking about games like PUBG, Destiny 2, Rainbow Six Siege, homegrown Steam hit Rust, and his MMOs like Black Desert. What makes anti-cheat work is technical debt that developers never find time to fix.
Still, as this platform grows and more people are interested, more hardware optimizations will become available, as we know Steam Deck 2 won’t happen anytime soon. (opens in new tab) and volume effect.it is also more likely future Games from these large developers will consider prioritizing operating system support for their deck of choice.
