delhi girls Season 3 hits Netflix with a cameo from Liam Neeson and all sorts of hijinks from Northern Irish Catholic girls (and James). The show is still hilarious—one of the best comedies you can watch on Netflix—but something especially from the first episode caused me to ponder.
Delhi Girls go to local video stores and briefly consider rentals brave heart before leaving to carry out a dastardly plan (must watch the episode). But first, they run into Sister Michael, teasing them about their exam results, and are summoned to the register to pick up “the new Martin Scorsese movie.”
First of all — great, no notes. Not only is Scorsese a well-known Catholic filmmaker, but his dark sense of humor is a perfect match for his Michael sensibilities. But which movie was it? For this moment, I completed my journalism degree.
the third season of delhi girls It will end in the spring of 1998. His two most recently released Scorsese films at the time were: casino (1995) and Kundun (1997). casino It will be especially interesting for Sister Michael to rent. It’s filthy, violent, and arguably Scorsese’s sexiest film. casino Oscar-nominated historical epic released in February 1996 in the UK and Ireland Kundun It was released in the UK in April 1998.
She’s in a video store, not a movie theater, so it’s possible she’s renting casino It’ll be forever before it’s out locally on VHS. But I think smart money is on. Kundun — Even though it just came out and wasn’t available on VHS at the time, we’ll consider storytelling flexibility from this fictional comedy series. After all, Sister Michael’s charming wit and her love of colorful language make her a perfect fit for any Scorsese movie—the Mob variety, the Catholic variety, or whatever. I can.
(Update: Readers, as this is early in the season, Kundun It probably wasn’t out yet.so it makes it probably a casinoin our opinion, this is the rule).
The show’s attention to detail and timely accuracy is one of many things that go from a fun and refreshing comedy to an actually great TV show. It’s little moments like this that make the world feel alive. (and it lands the show’s dramatic moments in ways that make it feel deeper). Even the fact that the video store employee explicitly put it on hold for Sister Michael, rather than calling her to book it herself, gives more detail and insight into the world of the show and the characters that live in it. Add a layer of insight.
Either way, I hope Sister Michael had a great time.i’m waiting for her thoughts Irishman in season 31.
