Nintendo played a key role in the future of the Bayonetta series.
Platinum’s Hideki Kamiya has previously said how much he appreciates Nintendo for helping “kick off this project”, but now that Bayonetta 3 is finally out, he’s talking about it again. I am commenting.
Kamiya told Famitsu that he was “really happy” that the team had been given the chance to make a third installment, adding:
“It’s not an exaggeration to say that I’ve been indebted to Nintendo forever.”
In the same interview, Nintendo producer Makoto Okazaki said of how Kamiya’s “passionate video message” helped bring Bayonetta 3 to life:
“Personally, I think that was the last push that made the game a reality.”
The Bayonetta series didn’t start on Nintendo’s platform, but Nintendo funded the release of the original game on Wii U and re-released the first and second games on Nintendo Switch.
