Dead Island 2 has been in development for a long time, with a sequel that has been off the radar for years, but has recently resurfaced with a release date of 2023. With a new release date of April 28, 2023, the game was postponed again.
The zombie game was first announced in 2014 for a 2015 release, but has suffered multiple delays, including losing a developer. After that, the game went quiet for years with only enough news to assure fans that it was still in development during that time.
Dead Island 2 finally resurfaced earlier this year, dropping a new trailer and announcing a release date of February 3, 2023, but it’s now April 28, according to an announcement posted on the game’s Twitter account. The announcement isn’t groundbreaking, and the studio explains that it needs more time to polish the game for launch.
“The irony of Dead Island 2’s postponement hasn’t been lost on us. We’re definitely as disappointed as you are,” the announcement said. “The delay is only 12 weeks and development is currently in the final stages.

In this post, we’re also announcing a new Dead Island 2 showcase that will premiere a new trailer and gameplay on December 6th to tug on fans who’ve been waiting for the game for a little while longer. I was waiting. It can take another 12 weeks.
