Hello everyone! I’m Jake Solomon, Creative Director at Firaxis Games. The kind folks at PlayStation have asked me to share some key tips for Marvel’s Midnight Suns, which comes out tomorrow, December 2nd.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is the latest title from Firaxis Games, creators of Civilization and XCOM. A deep tactical RPG set in the dark side of the Marvel Universe including Avengers, Runaway and X-Men. Play as the first original customizable Marvel hero, the Hunter, and take on Lilith, the mother of demons (and her real-life mother in-game). Let’s jump right in!
assemble the perfect team
There are three things to consider when building your squad. Who is the mandate for that mission, and who do you want to improve and level up?
Marvel’s Midnight Suns has several types of missions, each with a different purpose. Some missions require you to protect a VIP who is guarded by tough enemies that you need to defeat first. Other missions require defending objectives against the forces of Hydra and Lilith. The type of mission will help determine if you want a powerful single target like Captain her Marvel her damage her dealer or someone who can spread the love for blades .
Second, every mission in Marvel’s Midnight Suns has the hero it needs. All story missions require The Hunter, but general missions require anyone on the roster. You can change your strategy depending on who needs it. For example, if a mission requires Doctor His Strange, you’ll find that you’ll have no problem generating heroism, but it might be a little harder to deal damage. Understanding each hero’s strengths and weaknesses will help you build that ideal team.
Finally, consider the hero you want to enhance. In Marvel’s Midnight Suns, all abilities are represented as cards. The only way to earn more cards and further enhance your abilities is by playing missions. Sticking to your favorite team pays off, because the more you play as a hero, the more you unlock their abilities!
power of friendship
Marvel’s Midnight Suns features a Friendship System where off-battle discussions and hangouts with fellow heroes can bring huge bonuses on the battlefield. Friendship is gained through several activities, such as choosing the right dialogue when talking to heroes, playing with them, giving them gifts they like, and giving them compliments. The more you understand a hero, the more likely you are to earn valuable Friendship Points.
What’s lesser known is that in addition to individual friendship levels with each hero, there are team friendship levels that increase as you gain friendships with everyone. increases friendship, unlocks combo abilities, and improves the power of compliments.
And those battlefield bonuses can be true game-changers. One of my favorites involves Iron Man’s passive I’ll Handle This. This grants a redraw when playing multiple Ironman abilities in one turn. Iron Man can use these redraws to increase the power of his abilities…and you’ll want to play with those enhanced abilities. That means you’ll be continuously reactivating his passive throughout the fight. He can snowball really quickly if you play your cards correctly!
take your time and enjoy
With Marvel’s Midnight Suns, we set out to create a game that you could actually play at your own pace and on your own difficulty. We want this to be something everyone can pick up and play, whether they’re looking for a great Marvel story, or just want to really test themselves on Ultimate III difficulty. There is no time limit at any given time and no limit to the number of general missions you can complete.
Don’t forget to explore the monastery grounds as well. Around your supernatural secret base there are even more mysteries that you must solve. increase.
Hopefully, these tips will set you up for what you’ll be playing when the game releases, and get you excited about all the combat and story possibilities to explore. Suns will be available on PlayStation 5 on December 2nd.
