Justin Roiland’s comedy seems somewhat divisive. While many absolutely love its absurd and drawn-out weirdness, others find it offensive and annoying. rick and morty Royland, an animated show produced with Dan Harmon. If the faction you are annoyed with, high on lifewritten and starring by Roiland, should be avoided like Alien Plague. You’ll find a comfortable intergalactic first-person shooter.
high on life It starts off in a wonderfully deceptive way that I was rolling with laughter. You play a young adult in a modern-day suburban American home whose life has been violently disrupted by an alien invasion. These aliens are part of a group known as G3. They decided to use humans as a new form of drug to get, well, uplifted. Hence the title of the game.
After discovering a sentient gun in Roiland’s voice, you find a way to transport your home to an alien city. When you arrive, you and your growing crew realize the best way to stop the collective from destroying all of humanity is to eliminate the leader of G3. , traverse the galaxy, and take out the G3 lieutenants to put an end to the campaign of drunken terror.
The artist has done a great job of capturing a cartoonish yet detailed world. Pixar via Adult Swim. The first alien planet is essentially a hub world with shops and merchants, as well as some small side quests. very strictneedless to say, feels like walking in any setting rick and morty episode. There’s even a large monitor with a bizarre alien show ad that Roiland and the rest of the cast seem to simply pass out.Similar to the various interdimensional cable shows in rick and morty.
The world is vibrant with tone, palette, and character. Every world is dotted with aliens with different designs and limbs. From the spherical weirdo on one planet to the ever-slave, horny cute bear on the next. Consistently good performances from major to minor characters also help sell the game’s different worlds.
Guns are the star of the game. I say guns, but they’re actually small, loud, intelligent extraterrestrials. shape Of a gun that works like that too. You get a total of 4 regular guns, each voiced by a popular TV comedian. Kenny, voiced by Roiland, is pretty much the main character. He’s a regular pistol that fires green goo with a bomb-like special attack.
Your shotgun, Gus, is voiced by JB Smoove and conveys all his on-screen charisma through his adorable frog-like alien face. His secondary attack allows him to shoot Buzzsaw into walls. Your rifle, Sweezy, is voiced by Betsy Sodaro. Her special skill is the ability to create slowed-down time bubbles.
Finally, the heat-seeking Rocket Gun, the creature is voiced by Tim Robinson. All of Robinson’s weirdness from his show i think you should leAvenue is on display here, which is ironic, except that he conveys childlike naivety and optimism. Because he does a small spawn without shooting rockets. You see, he instantly grows small creatures with his legs. When you fire, look for enemies to nibble on. He considers them his short-lived children and loves them all. It’s comically tragic. His special move allows him to fire a special pink child that turns enemies into temporary allies fighting alongside you.
Aside from the gun, you also get a bloodthirsty companion called the Knife (Michael Cusack) that allows for powerful melee attacks and whip-like traversal.
it’s the gun that speaks for you
All guns have a different feel, but using them consistently felt great. FateFor a studio that has never made a wide range of first-person shooters before, I was really impressed with how solid, interesting and fun the combat was. It doesn’t have an ammo counter, but it does have a cooldown for reloading special attacks. Firing special attacks and switching weapons also slows down combat, giving you a breather to explore the arena. It’s goopy, it’s loud, it’s frenetic. Add in other abilities like power sliding and using a jetpack, and combat becomes a ballet of chaos navigating with a lethal baton of your choice.
The environment is diverse and beautiful. Weapons also act as tools of traversal and navigation, allowing you to return to your previous world and reach previously inaccessible locations and hidden areas. can be destroyed.
The structure of each mission is pretty much the same, but it manages to hit the Goldilocks sweet spot of not being too short and not being too long. Hmm. All of this was pretty fun and varied, so just because you found one trick, don’t expect it to come in handy right away.
Perhaps my favorite feature of this game is that you are the silent protagonist, so the guns speak for you (in the little dialogue section). So depending on which gun she’s holding and which NPC she’s talking to, you’ll get different tones, jokes, and responses. For example, I was playing the Detective Lights section of the game, so I had Tim Robinson act like an old-school detective.
The guns also come from the same destined planet, so they develop a strong relationship with each other.
You are accompanied by your sister and bounty hunter mentor. However, I didn’t even bother to write down their names because I found them to be irrelevant to the main story. You may have been coached by guns, and I’m sure games are the same. Arguments between them rarely have to be resolved.
As for performance, there are some nice big and small surprises that I won’t (again) spoil.
The comedy is rightfully hit or miss given the length of the game. At times it was hilarious. Otherwise, it was just a hassle, but your mileage may vary from person to person. Some jokes rely on tiring you out by how long the conversation or dialogue lasts. When he meowed and I thought he was dead, I left. Then he woke up and yelled at me for leaving. This has happened over 8 times and I still don’t know if he died!
My only major gripe is with the abrupt ending, no special surprises after defeating the final boss or completing the activity. For a game filled with voices of nattering guns, when we waste big bad guys, they’re strangely silent.
But regardless, Destination is fun and worth your time if you enjoy good looking and solid shooters. Limbless bounty hunters, and fascist ant people.
