The remastered FATAL FRAME: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is set to haunt Nintendo Switch on March 9, 2023, and KOEI TECMO America has provided details on where players will be visiting throughout the game. It looks like heaven to urban explorers, but it can also look like hell depending on how you look at it.
The game takes place on Rougetsu Island in southern Japan, where five girls temporarily disappeared during the Moonlight Festival. Two of these girls were found dead ten years after her, and the three survivors returned to the island to find out what was going on and find out what had happened to them during their disappearance. I tried to remember exactly what happened.
To solve these mysteries, you will have to explore some very frightening locations.
On the way, I entered the Haibara medical office. This old hospital, now in ruins, is where Dr. Haibara’s attempts to cure “Moonlight Syndrome” ultimately turned fatal. The girls also return to Rogetsu Hall, a sanatorium built for the treatment of “Moonlight Syndrome”. It is a hotel-like building attached to the Haibara Medical Office, where only “special guests” can enter. The locals refer to Haibara Clinic as the “old building” and Rogetsu Kaikan as the “new building.”
You can also explore other notable sites such as Tsukiyomisaki Lighthouse and Yomotsuki House. The island’s closest lighthouse to the moon holds special significance for moon-worshipping residents. An old shrine was relocated on top of the lighthouse. On the other hand, the Yomotsuki family is the birthplace of the missing girl, Ruka Minazuki, and visiting this house brings back precious memories. It is also the birthplace of Ruka’s father and the venerable mask maker Souya Shihotsuki. While trying to complete the “Mask of the Moonlight”, Souya is accused by Ruka’s mother, Sayaka Minazuki, of being involved in Ruka’s disappearance! To uncover the truth behind their disappearances and shocking deaths, Luka and his friends must seek out ghostly spirits and wanted men to uncover the secrets of their lost memories. You have to fight off the killer.
Of course, what’s a press release for Fatal Frame without any talk of DLC, and this time it’s a fun one. ) will be digitally released with a special FATAL FRAME: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse OP.
