First up is GameSpot Game of the Year, the perfect 10 Elden Ring. In the game, you play as a coward with the ultimate goal of becoming an Elden Lord in search of shards of the Elden Ring. Along the way, you’ll encounter hidden dungeons, rare loot, beautiful scenery, terrifying creatures, and a host of tough enemies that will test your strength. Try to keep your cool. Steam decks out of frustration cost a little more to replace than controllers.
Another challenging game with monsters is Vampire Survivors. It’s a top-down roguelite indie survival game with many top 10 lists for 2022. Turn into experience points, level up and gain upgrades, lasting as long as possible.
If swords and sorcery weren’t enough for you in the first two games, check out Cult of the Lamb.. In this game, you play as a lamb who has been saved from death by a mysterious being, The One Who Waits. In return, they must return to the Land of the Living, start a cult in their name, and defeat the bishops of the Old Faith. Sounds like fair trade, right? When you’re not defeating heretics, you can garden, decorate, cook, get married, and play dice, all while listening to a BANGERS-filled soundtrack.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is my favorite game and I feel very at home on my Steam deck (sorry Switcher 3 fans). The game is now seven years old, but it remains the benchmark for video game storytelling, especially when it comes to incredible side quests. It will be more fun to play.
Some might say I left the best for last, but to be honest, I’m not going to argue with those people. It’s a cleaning game. This experience focuses on building your own business in career mode and completing dirty jobs across the town of McKingham. There is no time limit or nagging feeling to achieve a high score. Only you are a dirty building and you are completely free how you want to finish the mission. Powerwash Sim was a drag to try out a bunch of other “simulator” games like Lawn Mowing Sim.
