Tough boss battles are a highlight of Team Ninja action games, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty seems to be no exception. In today’s IGN First, we’re giving the first look at one of the game’s early bosses, Aoye. Aoba is a fictional creature appearing in the ancient Chinese text “The Sutra of Mountains and Seas”, also known as the Sutra of Mountains and Seas. It is described as a bull-like being with long hair reminiscent of a straw rain cloak.
In Wo Long, Aoye appears as a giant monster that attacks with long hair and spooky tentacles. While often leaving them defenseless against attacks, each of Aoye’s attacks is heavy and potentially deadly. It is necessary to fight carefully in a closed environment.
In a gameplay video with Aoye (see top of page, check out 10 minutes of new gameplay from last week if you missed it), the player character uses a never-before-seen halberd . Weapon type. This is a comment from Director Masakazu Hirayama.
“
“The halberd is best known for Warlord Lu Bu’s sky-piercing halberd. A heavy weapon that mows down enemies such as glaives. At the same time, it has several long-range vertical thrust attacks like a spear. A weapon type that has martial arts (a powerful technique that varies from weapon to weapon) that allows you to keep enemies alive and hook them with a blade. This attack pulls enemies towards you, allowing you to attack from a closer distance.”
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is set to release for PS5/PS4/Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One/PC on March 3rd, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass day one. With Wo Long as IGN First in January, expect more exclusives later this month. Be sure to check out our Tianzhushan area gameplay video and our in-depth article on weapons in the game.
