Riot Games has laid off 46 employees amid a wave of massive industry layoffs.
League of Legends developer Confirmed with journalist Jacob Wolfe It has eliminated positions that were focused on the company’s talent acquisition, hiring and publishing divisions, as well as several roles in esports and support.Riot employs approximately 4,500 people worldwide.
In a statement to The Jacob Wolfe Report, a representative for Riot called the layoffs part of the “normal course of business.”
Riot Games has made strategic shifts within several teams to sharpen its focus in many areas. These changes removed certain roles and affected a total of 46 Rioters. This is part of our normal business. We regularly make changes to our structure and team based on what we believe will provide the best content and experience for our players. We never make these decisions lightly and always start by keeping Rioters and wanting them to focus on our top priorities. It’s not always possible, but that’s our main goal.
Riot also says it continues to hire and has more than 150 open positions on its website.
