Only 23% of video game developers are interested. NFTscryptocurrencies, and other blockchain technologies, according to the results of this year’s annual gaming industry survey conducted by the Game Developers Conference. It offers a snapshot of the overall emotion.
Interest in NFTs by developers has declined since 2022
Compared to last year’s survey results, developer interest in blockchain technology has declined from 27% interested in cryptocurrencies and 28% interested in NFTs. Currently, only 2% of respondents to this year’s survey say their studios are currently working on projects using blockchain.
The future of NFTs in gaming also looks grim, with only 17% saying they would prefer blockchain technology in gaming in the first place. On the other hand, his 61% of developers disagreed, and the rest were unsure or had no opinion on the matter.
The survey also revealed that 53% of developers support unionization in the games industry. 91% of respondents believe player harassment and toxicity is also an industry issue. About 68% said their company addressed the harassment they experienced or witnessed, about 20% said it didn’t and 11% said they weren’t sure if it did.
