Jung_E Synopsis
Jung_E is a 2023 Netflix Korean movie directed by Yeon Sang-ho of Train to Busan fame. It follows Chronoid team leader Yoon So-hyun trying to build his perfect AI combat robot based on his mother, Captain Yoon Jung-yi. However, her final mission failure left her in a coma, prolonging the already ongoing civil war.
Cronoid hopes to end the civil war by placing Captain Yun’s AI on the battlefield. But before that, they must contend with bureaucrats, the bored government officials who will end the Jung_E project, and Captain Yoon’s very brain, who refuses to cooperate and is cloned into a perfect AI.
Who Was Captain Yun?
Captain Yoon Jung Yi (Kim Hyun Joo) was a war hero who became a mercenary who made dolls after her because the general public saw her as an idol. went to war in On the day of her surgery, she was tasked with ending the civil war once and for all. However, she failed and fell into a coma.
What is the Allied vs. Adrian Civil War?
After Earth’s sea level rose, most of humanity moved to shelters built in orbit between the Earth and the Moon. Shelter 8, 12, and 13 defect and become the Adria Republic. For unknown reasons, they began attacking the remaining survivors and other shelters on Earth. This caused the remaining humans to form an alliance and become the Allied Forces. Decades later, when the Jung_E project is nearly complete, the Kronoid chairman reveals that both parties have signed a peace treaty to end the war.
What will happen to project Jung_E?
The film begins with team leader Yoon So-hyun (Kang Soo-young) failing in her attempt to create a perfect AI for her mother. It is then revealed that she was appointed by the Chairman of Chronoid to create the perfect combat robot based on Captain Yoon, as many believed she could have ended the Civil War. They want to clone her so that her AI can take the job and finish it perfectly.
However, when the war ends, the Jung_E project is closed. When she finds out her cancer has returned and she is destined to die, she decides to help her last AI model escape.
Who is Director Kim Sang Hoon?
Kim Sang-hoon (Ryu Kyung-soo) is introduced as the director of Jung_E Project. Although he is a comic relief, he also seems to invest heavily in making the project successful. It is later revealed that he himself is not human, but is in fact the Chairman’s first prototype of himself, and will be disposed of after Jung_E’s closure.
A guru, but human with humor, anger and fear, he has few flaws. However, there is a hint that newcomer Lee Se-young, who knows that he is an AI and trusts the chairman, is amused by showing his emotions in front of him.
And while acting covertly, he realizes that the last AI model tricked them all and got away with it, being too clever for his own good. He also checks Seohyun’s mandatory ethics test and confronts her, realizing she is helping AI. Realizing this, he uses it to his advantage to fight Yun.
Why was Yun’s last AI able to escape?
A change in simulation allows the final AI model to remember the real Yoon’s daughter. She remembers that the doll Seohyun gave her only liked the real Yoon. When you come to your senses, delete the memory that Yoon had a daughter. She then warns them that they are in a simulation and asks them to believe her.The AI is a fake that has been shot and deactivated to end the simulation.
When the doctor takes her out to take her to her room, she beats them and runs away. They are ambushed by Kim and robot guards, but despite being outnumbered, the AI destroys them all. Unfortunately, Seohyun was shot in the confusion. She pleads with AI to run away, but she remembers Seohyun as her daughter and she gave her one last hug before running away.
