This week’s Xbox Sale is back with tons of discounts on games and DLC across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. So the TA News team went on the prowl to find recommended pickups.
Nice folks, we’re back with a roundup of our favorite picks from this week’s Xbox sale. As always, with discounts on dozens of games and DLC for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, there’s plenty to see. The sale here takes your fancy. These picks are usually a fairly diverse collection of games as they give us the opportunity to see what we like to play in our downtime.
But this week, we seem to have decided, incidentally, that violence is the way to go. Tentacles, Tom asked for orc meat to put the meat back on the menu, and Sean… apparently, of all he could choose from the bargain, he chose a bottle. The time for jokes is over, but the horns of war are blaring…

Luke — The Darkness & The Darkness II
i’m gonna be a greedy boy two Because one doesn’t want to have a game of the week without the other, and both are great in many ways. Pretty recently I picked up a physical copy of The Darkness and its sequel The Darkness II (both Buckcompat’s 360 games) for about the same price as this one. I am very much looking forward to doing so. Choosing Mike Patton for the role of the classic Darkness was not only cleverly cast, but it led to two flawless performances. It works fine with such a crazy range.
The first game in 2007 was much more narrative and does an origin story dance, as we had to assume, of course, that many players were unfamiliar with the comic the game was based on. It’s not like Spider-Man or Batman, which has been given us countless times in slightly different ways over the years. The second game, released five years later, does even better thanks to many improvements in gunplay and spectacle, so I can. Wait… but the first game’s multiplayer achievement can absolutely do one.
darkness
On his 21st birthday, the destructive power of a timeless force known as The Darkness awakens within Franchetti Crime Family hitman Jackie Estacado. Jackie must learn to fully command the Darkness so he can regain control of the Franchetti family, which is ruled by his “uncle” Paulie, a vile man who is almost universally despised. it won’t work. However, Jackie soon learns that Darkness has a will of its own.
Darkness II
(Online interactions have not been evaluated by the ESRB) The Darkness II is an intense immersive experience in which you take on the role of Jackie Estacado, the don of the New York crime family and wielder of the ancient, supernatural chaotic powers known as The Darkness. It is a first person shooter game.
Sean — Pixel Gladiator
you read that right. My sales pick of the week is Pixel Gladiator, a tower defense title — cue: shock, horror, backlash from people in the comments. Pixel Gladiator is his sci-fi themed tower defense game where you build structures and turrets and control a tiny space man armed with powerful weapons to defend your base against all sorts of intergalactic means is needed. Killing enemies gives you money that you can use to upgrade your weapons and bases. Everything is pretty simple, but in the later levels things can get pretty confusing, especially when you’re using a jetpack to jump between platforms. There are far better games out there, but at the ridiculously low price of $0.74 / £0.62 / €0.74 this week, you can’t go wrong here. Plus, there’s a simple gamerscore extra bonus. If so, the completion here takes only a few hours.

Tom — Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – Game of the Year Edition
I’ve been playing Hogwarts Legacy to my heart’s content over the past week or so. In many ways, it shares similar gameplay elements with Monolith’s Middle-earth: Shadows of Mordor. Base combat mechanics. So, with that in mind, I had to give this beast the attention it deserves, even rocking the 70% discount. That means the base game and all its DLC for just over £7 ($4.99 / €8.99). It’s a fantastic action-adventure game set in the realm created by JRR Tolkien and follows the story of his Gondorian Ranger, Talion, who is tied to the ghost of Elven Lord Celebrimbor. This is an action-heavy game that sees the pair avenge the deaths of their families by slaughtering the Orcs that inhabit the land. Manipulate your enemies by offering magic. Combat in this game is rock-hard, made even more interesting with the AI-powered Nemesis system that allows for the ability for bosses and elite characters to remember you from previous encounters and gives you the chance to adapt to your attacks. This is a great feature that makes the game feel “alive”.
As a bonus, if you enjoyed this game, its sequel, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, is available on Xbox Game Pass, so you can jump into the adventure without breaking the bank. Please collect. You have tons of orcs to slaughter!
