In Midgar, the slums thrive, the Mako reactor smolders, and the dirt turns to dust. Carried by the breeze that wafts through the smog-filled air. Whole place could use a good hosedown. A new hero emerges from the fog, dressed in blue… brandishing a power washer.
Now, you may not be able to purify the world of Shinra’s scourge, but you can Just straight up cleanse the world! You deal with the fallout while Avalanche deals with Shinra. The only power struggle you are charged with is to keep that washing machine.
We’re proud to work with the Final Fantasy VII team to bring PowerWash simulator players to one of the game’s most famous cities in a fresh and authentic way. Players will fall in love with the game again with the new Midgar Special Pack, released on March 2nd.
Free to all PowerWash Simulator owners, this expansion includes five gritty new maps to wash and explore, including iconic locations, vehicles, and mechs. Working on the Midgar Special Pack, he speaks to some of the designers at FuturLab for a closer look at the inspiration behind his two levels, Scorpion Sentinel and Seventh Heaven.
Mighty Scorpion Sentinel
One of the most memorable boss fights in Final Fantasy VII is undoubtedly the Scorpion Sentinel, a perfect job for the Midgar Special Pack. Players encounter Sentinels before deploying against members of the Avalanche. Here you can see that a series of tests were performed by Shinra to evaluate various defensive functions.
A new battle damage dart type was used to represent various scratches and projectile bounce marks. In addition, the Scorpion Sentinel owes the results of Professor Hojo’s test using his one of his specimens. This can be seen from the bio-residue splats present around the machine from this creature’s attacks. Sentinel is powered by her Mako energy (my favorite new dirt type) and to illustrate how Sentinel was pushed to the limit, we put her in key areas. Most of the remaining dirt is dirt accumulated during the various tests the Scorpion Sentinel was subjected to.
“When recreating the iconic Scorpion Sentinel in the PowerWash simulator, I wanted the Sentinel to feel alive, so I could see different animations such as the eyes and claws moving around. I wanted to be able to operate it so that I could move it around and clean from different angles.”
– Federico D’Apote, designer
Charming Seventh Heaven
With the Midgar Special Pack, we absolutely knew we had to tackle 7th Heaven, the best bar in Sector 7 and home of Avalanche. Not only does it give players the chance to hear stories from beloved FFVII characters like Cloud and Tifa (it can also scavenge some of the game’s coolest weapons like Barrett’s gun and Cloud’s Buster Sword). ), our first-person view also gives us a closer look at Tifa’s decoration skills and explores areas that bar players couldn’t see as easily as before.
“Bars, especially dystopian fantasy bars, are often full of environmental storytelling and attract all kinds of dirt. Tifa must teach Don Corneo’s disrespectful underlings a lesson.” So the floor was completely covered with footprints, food and drink stains splattered on the tabletop and walls, and a general buildup of age and neglect in hard-to-reach places. The end result is a very satisfying cleaning experience.”
– Sam Jenkins, Designer
In addition to Scorpion Sentinel and Seventh Heaven, it also blasts Hardy Daytona and Shinra Hauler, Mako Energy Exhibit, and the formidable Airbuster.
Whether you’re a dirt detailer or a chaos cleaner, each map gives you the time and space to appreciate the enchanting city and some of Shinra’s best tech like never before… I’m not attacking you this time.
The fate of the city may be chaotic, but perhaps you can help clear the way for a few brave heroes. increase.
