After the Fall is a co-op multiplayer post-apocalyptic first-person shooter from Arizona Sunshine developer Vertigo Games. Decades after the 1980s apocalypse turned Los Angeles into a frozen wasteland, you join a group of underground survivors known as the Harvest Runners. Tasked with expanding your group’s control over the city, you must provide the necessary resources to provide your base, The Line, with the bare minimum to survive another day in this brutal world. While collecting, you must clear out vast areas of the undead.
The Line is where all play sessions begin and is the hub of vibrant multiplayer activity with up to 32 other players. Since After the Fall is cross-play with his PCVR platform, this hub will allow you to chat with other experienced players, edit your loadouts, and find your squad if you’re playing alone. It’s the perfect place to be.
After the Fall offers a solid campaign for 1 to 4 players and consists of 4 main levels with varying degrees of difficulty, from Easy to Nightmare. You are killing hordes of undead as they run, crawl and trip towards you while you explore your surroundings. At these levels, watch out for floppy disks hidden in lockers, drawers, or lying on shelves. Putting these in his wrist inventory slot can be a hassle because the PSVR2 Sense Controllers sometimes collide with each other, but it’s no big deal. Bringing these to the safe house at the end of the level rewards you with a variety of new weapons, attachments, skins, consumables, and throwable items. These also differ in stats and rarity. It’s a very rewarding loot system that encourages you to replay and unlock the rarest gear.
There are a wide variety of zombies you can blow up, including Husks, Eaters, Brutes, Juggernauts, Smashers and Skimmers. They all have different abilities: some crawl toward you through ceilings, some explode and blind you with ganks, and others pick you up and activate your headset’s haptic feedback. If the campaign isn’t enough, there’s also a Horde mode with endless waves to survive, and a PvP mode with both Team Deathmatch and Free-For-All.
After the Fall is an outstanding co-op apocalypse shooter with many similarities left 4 deadThere is a lot of thrilling and fun content that can be enjoyed solo or in a team. If you’re a fan of FPS, or just looking for multiplayer entertainment, I highly recommend giving this title a try.
