Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty barely released on PC last week, with a list of performance issues and broken mouse controls. Today, patch 1.03 begins cleaning up his PC port, perhaps the worst of the year.
Patch notes available from the developer team ninja site (opens in new tab)which claims to fix numerous bugs and crashes, as well as camera control when using the mouse.
At boot, moving the mouse felt like using the controller’s joystick. I had to deal with what felt like a dead zone that prevented the camera from moving until it passed a certain threshold. Fast-paced action games weren’t playable, especially if you were aiming the bow, and now Wo Long’s mouse controls work like they do in his other PC games.
Numerous performance issues in game — led to thousands of negative Steam reviews (opens in new tab) It’s now reflected as a “mixed” rating on Steam, but that’s another story. The patch says it fixes “crash-prone situations that occurred in certain environments”, but some players reddit (opens in new tab) and vapor (opens in new tab) I’m still having issues.
Team Ninja says they are working on “other issues that have been reported and discussed” for the next patch. Garyu Twitter (opens in new tab) account. Hopefully those other issues include stuttering, framerate discrepancies, bugs locking to 720p resolution, and various visual glitches players have reported since release.
In Wo Long’s review (opens in new tab)Sam Greer called its technical problems “disappointing” as it is a “very accomplished evolution” of Team Ninja’s Soul-like action RPG series Nioh. Promised DLSS update (opens in new tab)lives up to its accolades to everyone who tries to play it.
