Naughty Dog catered to overwhelming numbers of players. The Last of Us Part 1 PC Port Users experiencing crashing or freezing issues. The developers are “actively investigating” multiple user-reported issues, but these are just a few of the many things Naughty Dog and Iron Galaxy are working on for future updates and patches. It seems to be only a small part of it.
Sony accused of choosing Iron Galaxy over Nixxes for this PC port
At the time of this writing, the average user review rating is Steam: The Last of Us Part 1 has a dismal “mostly negative” ranking, with only 33% recommending it out of over 3,000 reviews.
Looking through some of the “most helpful” user reviews, multiple crashes about once every 20 minutes (sometimes more), heavy VRAM usage, long load times, and general optimizations is reported to be lacking. Many people are stuck in game building shaders for hours. 1 Twitter user The game crashed his Steam deck and his “full spec gaming PC” even after re-downloading and reinstalling the game.
The review points to much of the blame for choosing Iron Galaxy Studios and Sony over Nixxes Software for this PC port.
As indicated in the tweet above, Naughty Dog is aware of the issue, but seems to be prioritizing an update and will address the crashing issue in an upcoming patch. Monitor the page and ask them to submit a ticket for any issues Naughty Dog official website.
This PC port of The Last of Us Part 1 was delayed back in February, probably foreshadowing these crashing issues in the game
