So if you’ve worked hard on the Jedi hype train and are probably going to die without a steady marketing drip feed, I’d say watch 6 seconds or so a day for the next 18 days. did you’re welcome.
Either way, it’s a pretty cool trailer, summarizing the theme of Cal Kestis figuring out how to survive underground as a Jedi during the time of the Galactic Empire. The accompanying trailer is mostly cinematic with no gameplay footage and UI, with some pre-rendered bits.
In the trailer, Cal battles a variety of enemies, including stormtroopers, armored AT-ST walkers, robots, and various alien beasts. He’s also fighting a Rancor – apparently it’s Star Wars so it will end up being a Rancor.
In an interview posted alongside the game, Respawn’s Stig Asmussen explained the companion gameplay. “It’s really about experiencing how Cal and his allies (such as Bode Akuna and Merrin) fight side by side, how they solve puzzles, and negotiate the various planets they travel to. Many things have these cinematic glories seen in combat, like takedowns. Although limited by cooldowns, these types of buddy tools help players negotiate tricky scenarios in combat.
Asmussen also said he thinks players will enjoy how much the scope of the game has grown and that it’s set about five years after Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
“It’s about creating great systems that allow designers to do things we never thought of and artists to do. It’s about making bigger boxes. We still have boxes, but boxes It’s bigger, and there’s a lot more you can do inside it than you did in the first game,” he said.
