Longtime Bungie writer and Halo Infinite former creative lead Joseph Staten has left Microsoft. (opens in new tab) Earlier this month, we found out where he was going: to Netflix.
“There is nothing I love more about my job than collaborating with others to build worlds full of iconic characters, deep mysteries, and endless adventures,” Staten tweeted. “Today, I am delighted to announce that I have joined Netflix Games as creative director for a new AAA multi-platform game and original IP.

Staten has a long and diverse history in the Halo series, from voice work on Halo 2 to Halo: Reach’s writing director and, as mentioned above, Halo Infinite’s creative lead.but he has that’s not all (opens in new tab) He was also the story director for the original Destiny, and after leaving Bungie in 2013 he moved to Microsoft where he served as the creative director for a notable series of games including Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Crackdown 3 and Microsoft. such as flight simulators.
When Netflix entered game development in 2021, its focus was primarily on mobile game development. (opens in new tab)However, in November 2022, it announced that it wanted to “make a triple-A PC game.” (opens in new tab)It had all the looks of a live-service shooter.
