have you ever asked yourself “What if Brave Little Toaster was a sports movie?” no? I’m not, but here’s a toasterball anyway. It’s a hysterically-looking little party game where toasters compete in sports like professional tennis and ping-pong, shooting toasts in the air and deflecting balls. It’s the kind of physics-based sport that definitely focuses on his multiplayer fun, either in person or locally via Steam’s Remote Play Together. (opens in new tab).
“Toasters are athletes and will compete against their friends in this unconventional tournament where the laws of physics are just suggestions,” reads the store description.
This is a good setup for party games, a two button control scheme where you press one of the toaster’s two toasts. The longer you hold it, the higher it will pop. When the toast comes out, the toaster can jump and move.
Once someone scores, a random gameplay variant is activated. It’s like “new ball physics, lava pits, portals, moving platforms or explosions” to add some spice to the game. The child adds even more possibilities.” Varies considerably.
Toasterball has been in Early Access for several years and will be released on May 3rd. As part of the launch, we’re adding new maps, AI to battle against, and custom game modes. The developers have also reworked the physics, presumably to make them even more suggestive and conducive to toaster-based sporting events.
Toasterball was created by a 4 person indie team, Les Crafteurs. This is their first game and is self-published.discoverable Toasterball on Steam (opens in new tab).
