Here at Nintendo Life, we love Salmon Run. Splatoon 3’s game mode takes the usual “ink, swim, repeat” format of regular turf war battles (we also love good turf wars, not shadow-casting) and turns them into endless onslaughts. Add distraction. Enemies, Bosses, and Eggs. Plus, there’s a cracking soundtrack that makes the dash for the goal feel a little more frantic.

The tense songs alone might not make for the most relaxing listening, but Nintendo of America has released a video showing how these tracks are made. unfathomable.

The video above shows a musical medley of Salmon Run performed by Seizuru Tokusawa, the key cellist of the in-game band ω-3. Yeah, it turns out the songs are played by real humans. no Salmonidae — who knew?!

The tracks “Frothy Waters,” “Bait & Click (Mutation),” and “Toxic Anoxic” have earned front-row seats, demonstrating Tokuzawa’s speed and precision as the tempos pick up faster and faster.

Just last month, in a video Nintendo shared, we took a closer look at how they created some of the music for Splatoon 3’s Deep Cut, so there’s another peak behind the curtain to see the process of another game mode. is a good thing.

This will set you in the perfect mood for next week’s Zelda-themed gaming splatfest.

Did you enjoy taking a closer look at the music in Splatoon 3? Glad to meet a real performer? Let us know in the comments.
