Bad to the Bone-Spirit (Necromancer)
Adam Z. Jackson – Lead Class Designer
The first build I want to talk about is the build we plan to use when Diablo IV launches, namely the Bone-Spirit Necromancer.
Bone Spirit is one of the bolder skill designs in that it has a longer cooldown and removes all of the player’s essence upon casting. Instead, it deals significant extra damage to enemies for each resource point spent. Bone Spirit’s buff also greatly reduces the cooldown when critically hitting an enemy, and gives players an extra target to chase.
Putting it all together, the goal of this build is for players to increase both Max Essence and Essence Regeneration to a point where they can still cast Bone Split on cooldown while making sure they’re generating enough Essence. It will be full again for the next cast. We prioritize Max Resources, Resource Regeneration, and Critical Strike Chance as the main stats we pursue. Other stats like critical strike damage and bonus damage to bone skills are also desirable. One of the really interesting things about this build is that we expect it to change a lot over time as we acquire targeted gear and specific Legendaries and Uniques.
Among the key effects we want is Ghastly Bone Spirit, which grants an extra 10% Critical Strike Chance, which can be added to your build until your Critical Strike Chance is high enough through gear or otherwise. Helps ensure critical strikes on key enemies. this upgrade. At that point, switch to Dreadful Bone Spirit (generates 30 Essences over the next 4 seconds after each hit) to help generate Essences. Ossified Essence Key Passive causes Bone Spirit to do more damage when cast with large amounts of Essence (1% more damage to Bone Skill for each point of Essence over 50). We plan to always cast Bone Spirit at full essence, so this greatly increases the damage it can deal.
In this build, we’re only going to run a Bone Golem, sacrificing a Skeleton Skirmisher for an extra Critical Strike Chance (6%), and a Skeletal Mage for an extra Max Essence (18).
In terms of skills, you start the game with Bone Splinter, Bone Spear, Bone Spirit, Golem, Corpse Explosion, and Blood Wave. This set of skills allows you to use corpses effectively, while also giving you the control you need to group and keep enemies at bay via Golems and Blood Waves while annihilating them with Bone Spears and Bone Spirits. Tools are also available.
Legendary and Unique make this build even better. Blood Artisan’s Cuirass significantly upgrades the build by providing an alternative method of generating Bone Spirit by collecting Blood Orbs. After getting this unique, my build will also be chasing Blood Orb generation, allowing for new connections such as the legendary power of Tidal Doom, which generates multiple Blood Waves, and even more Blood Orbs to collect. is generated.
For a more late-game setup, we’ve replaced Bone Shards and Bone Spears with Bleeding and Corpse Vines to help you get more Blood Orbs. This version of the build uses Bone Split on cooldown to deal massive damage while crafting and collecting Blood Orbs to generate additional Bone Spirits when possible.
Wolfnade (Druid)
Adam Z. Jackson – Lead Class Designer
The Werewolf Tornado Druid is a fun and powerful build that only gets better over time.
The goal of this build is to fill the screen with as many tornadoes as possible. To do this, you should prioritize maximum spirits, spirit generation, and effects that reward you for acquiring and spending spirits as much as possible.
One unique thing that really changes this build is the Tempest Roar. Being able to cast Tornado as a werewolf allows for many previously unavailable interactions. Your build will still work without this item, but it will allow for many powerful synergies that will take your build to the next level as you approach the endgame. Other Legendaries that make this build possible include Stormchaser Doom, which allows Tornado to seek out enemies, and Calm Breeze Legendary, which allows Wind Sheer to restore all spirits .
Skills, upgrades, and passives to consider include Perfect Storm, which grants 1 Spirit and deals 15% more damage when hitting a weak, immobilized, or slowed enemy. This makes the enemy vulnerable and creates a spirit generation engine by using the following command. A tornado hits them. Energize has a 15% chance to restore 10 Spirit when dealing damage to an enemy. Masochistic is the boon of the spirit that helps sustain. Tornado is now a shapeshifting skill, so critical hits on enemies restore 3% of your max life!
There is some flexibility in which skills to use, but good defaults are Wind Shear, Tornado, Cyclone Armor, Ravens, Blood Howl, and Cataclysm. Skills in this group allow for different ways of healing, gaining spirits, and applying vulnerabilities to enemies.
Inbueller’s Holiday (Rogue)
Charles Dunn – Class, Associate Game Designer
My favorite build, and one I plan to play when Diablo IV launches, is the Rogue Imbuement build.
Imbue is a rogue-specific special skill that enhances the next two attacks with the power of Shadow, Poison, or Cold. There are many ways to mix and match these incursions when building a rogue, but this build uses Shadow and Cold to maximize the legendary power of the Icy Alchemist. Cold Imbuement applies Chill to enemies so you can kill them with your Shadow Imbued skill, causing massive explosions and massive area damage. There are many other legendary and unique items that fit this playstyle. This includes the unique amulet of the very powerful Word of Hakan. This allows my ultimate Rain of Arrows skill to always benefit from his 3 Imbuments at the same time.
The core skill of this build is “Twisting Blades”. Not only is this a great way to apply impunity to hordes of enemies, but the advanced Twisting Blade reduces the cooldown of all impalements to keep you in action at all times. . From a mobility standpoint, I love the combination of dash and twisted blades in this build. Dash allows you to easily move to the other side of a horde of enemies, ensuring that your Twisted Blade hits the maximum number of targets when they return. The Preparation Specialization is also a great way to maximize your cooldown skill uptime, leading to a very fast-paced playstyle.
One of the most important stats to look for in this build is Lucky Hit Chance. A key legend in this build, the Ice Alchemist, in addition to the Lucky Hit effect, has Innervation (10% to gain 8 Energy on a Lucky Hit) and Enhanced Cold Enhancement (Affected by Cold Skill effect is 30%) and other skills throughout the skill tree. Chance to render enemy defenseless for 3 seconds). However, Rogues are not known for playing fair, so I used Alchemist’s Fortune (15% more lucky hit chance on non-psychic damage) and Primary Exhilarating Strike (8% more lucky hit chance, crowd control). 16% for ) to tilt luck in your favor. or injured enemy).
Finally, the momentum key passive works really well with this build, giving me energy regeneration to spam my Twisting Blade, movement speed to move around the battlefield to get the best angle for my Twisting Blade, damage reduction, etc. will give you the bunch of stats you want. This is even more important as you will be in close range of the enemy most of the time. Alternatively, Victimize Key Passive might work well if you have enough lucky hit chances to consistently trigger Vulnerable from enhanced Cold Imbuement.
