As an avid player of board games (both physical and PC digital), it’s a real honor and pleasure to be a part of this project. We are dedicated to capturing the essence Groom Haven Provides a perfect gaming experience on Xbox.
Groom HavenThe complexity of creates unique challenges for controller adaptation. Our team has been working on a UI/UX overhaul to ensure seamless gameplay and intuitive controls, making the transition from board games to PC games to Xbox games an effortless and enjoyable experience. rice field. We’re casting some seriously useful spells here.
And it was quite a challenge. Groom Haven There’s a lot to click on on PC, so we wanted to make the experience as smooth as possible. Please rest assured. No need to tediously move the cursor with a joystick to mimic a mouse. Complete remapping of controls is complete. Our first iteration required too many fingers and button presses for a normal human being, but we’re not Hallowers. probably.
Let’s talk a little bit more about controls.
Bring Groom Haven Joining Xbox was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The problem is that board games don’t have a limited set of buttons. There is also no online cross-platform co-op. So you can imagine the difficulty.
I wanted the controls to be as intuitive as possible, so I decided to handle all camera movements with analog sticks. Navigating through the list is also very natural using the stick, so set up your game so that the player navigates the interface with the left stick. Sometimes two lists intersect each other, like the merchant screen. After a few iterations of UX, we focused on lists so that players could choose which part of the interface they wanted to interact with. Also, to adapt these screens to Xbox, we’ve redesigned the interface a bit by integrating buy/sell filters when talking to merchants.
Combat is where we messed with the camera the most. During enemy or friendly turns on PC, the camera focus was taken away from you while unit animations played, but you could hover your mouse over various elements to plan your strategy. I was. On consoles, navigating between camera controls and lists can be frustrating. We’ve decoupled this automatic control from the camera to give the player more flexibility in viewing everything.
Another challenge was combining selection and confirmation by holding down the A button. I wanted these overlaps to be as smooth as possible. There were some hiccups, such as when choosing which enemy to attack on the board, but now the focus is on her second enemy. The console version lets you select them or only attack the first selected target. Overall, the team did a good job making us as comfortable as possible. There are no enemies that are not attacked and no cards that are not selected.
