Amazon Prime Day 2023 takes place on July 11th and 12th, but there are already some solid early Prime Day deals, including invite-only deals on some of Amazon’s Fire TVs and more. When the big day rolls around, Polygon gathers the best deals on games, accessories, toys and other related merchandise you’ll find on Amazon and competing retailers.
However, if you’re interested in how to find out the best deals for yourself, there are some great tools available to monitor price drops. Below, we’ve rounded up our favorite free apps, along with some helpful strategies for not missing a discount on your favorite products.
Track Prime Day price drops with these tools
camel camel camel
CamelCamelCamel, despite its strange name, is one of the best tools for tracking price changes and history of products especially on Amazon. You don’t need an account to see the pricing information available through the app, but creating a profile allows you to set up a watchlist and receive price notifications for your favorite products by email. While you can manually create your own watchlist, the app also allows you to import your existing Amazon wishlists into your CamelCamelCamel profile.
However, CamelCamelCamel and Camelizer browser extension links to this should only provide information about Amazon products. So if you’re shopping at Best Buy, Target, GameStop, etc. during Prime Day, you’ll need a different set of tools.
Keeper
Finally, there is the Keepa extension. This is not much different from CamelCamelCamel. You can import your Amazon wishlist and track the price of specific products. Keepa only tracks the price history of Amazon products, but its extensions automatically show detailed graphs of price changes over time on almost every product page. When you open the Product Tracking tab, like any other tracking tool, you can set up alerts to notify you when your product meets or falls below a certain price.
Honey
Honey and its accompanying extensions allow you to track historical pricing changes for a given product across many retailers, not just Amazon. And as an added bonus, Honey will automatically look up promo codes when checking out at supported retailers.
Once you set up your Honey account, you cannot import existing wishlists from other retailers, but its smart droplist feature automatically adds items in your Amazon “save for later” cart to your droplist. , the prices of frequently viewed items are also tracked. A specific retail item. If you want to take advantage of it, be sure to enable this feature.
slick deal
If you prefer a more hands-on approach to finding deals, Slickdeals is a frequently updated collection of the best discounts on a wide range of products, vetted by the site’s user community. While it is not possible to track the price of certain products, you can set up notifications for deals that match certain keywords or that have a certain level of popularity among Slickdeals users. Slickdeals is a great way to browse trending deals across a wide range of categories without setting up alerts or creating an account.
Ask Alexa to remind me
If you’re a Prime member with an Echo smart speaker, you can opt-in to receive sale notifications on specific products 24 hours before the live start. The Alexa app can notify you of price drops on eligible items in your shopping cart, wishlist, or saved for later use.
To enable this feature, go to the notifications menu under settings in the Alexa mobile app and open Amazon Shopping. In the Amazon Shopping menu, scroll down to Shopping Recommendations and turn on Deal Recommendations. Note that enabling this feature will not chime Alexa when the product launches, but you will still see a yellow notification ring on your Echo device in addition to alerts on your mobile device.
Also check out invitation-only deals
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Amazon already has some great Prime Day deals on Fire TV and other products, but some of them have their pitfalls. First you have to be invited, but to be fair this is more of a request than an invitation. Simply find a participating product and click Request Invitation. If Amazon is able to fulfill your order, you will receive an email notification on Prime Day with instructions on how to checkout for exclusive offers. The number of invite-only deals is fairly limited at the moment, but that could change as we get closer to Prime Day.
Prime Day is no longer just for Amazon
It’s a good idea to check what other retailers have on offer in case the particular product you’re looking for isn’t discounted on Amazon. Rest assured, around July 11th, many other retailers will be vying for your attention. While they may not offer significant discounts, retailers such as best buy, walmartand the goal All services are subject to a price match policy that may match prices available on Amazon.
