During an interview at Anime Expo, I spoke with creator Yoko Taro (nier automata), Atsushi Okubo (Firefighter), Hiroyuki Seshita (demi-human), and anonymous Jin (Mayfly project) about how they came together to make the next anime sci-fi death game anime, Kamierabi GOD.App.
of Kamierabi GOD.App High school students compete in a series of death games for a chance to be chosen as the new god of their world. On the premise that Kamierabi GOD. App. narratively similar to Future Diaryits creator says its world is even crazier.
“I mean, it’s really crazy. The world we’re in is already crazy. It means that we are doing it,” said Director Seshita. Kotaku. “From the beginning, we said, ‘Okay, let’s do it.'” [the anime feels like] Strange things have been going on since the beginning. And every time we worked on this, we tried to make sure we injected the craziness that matched our world. ”
apart from Kamierabi GOD.AppSeshita said that the anime, which is premised on a death game, is more suited to the fantasy genre.you can check out the trailer.
how Kamierabi GOD.Appcreators come together for anime
The anime’s premise promises to be a wild ride, but what’s even crazier is the collaboration between the people working on the show given their busy schedules. When asked how the quartet ended up teaming up for this anime, Taro, who the other members have identified as the lead of the collaboration, said it all happened over drinks.
“When I found out Mr. Seshita was going to participate, I was really a fan of his work, so I said, let’s at least go out for a drink and see what happens,” Taro said.
Taro waving when called by the leader Kamierabi GOD.Appsaid that each creator’s “strong personality” was equally helpful in the anime’s planning process. Taro said Seshita’s experience in creating video games using his computer graphics and his 3D animation, along with coordinating large production teams, helped each creator stay grounded. I rated it.
“If we weren’t in this situation where we’re all looking for something different or transitional in our careers, maybe [KamiErabi GOD.App] It wouldn’t have happened, but I think it was great,” Taro said. “We all had different ways of doing things. After we all got together and really joined forces, it all came together in a sort of miraculous way.”
Jin and Okubo were told to boldly go crazy Kamierabi GOD.App
Mr. Taro helped character designer Mr. Okubo and Mr. Jin, who was in charge of series composition, who were accustomed to creating their own creations, and instructed Mr. Seshita to put all his effort into producing the new anime series. I think it was an important part. Offer your audience a bold and provocative new experience.
“For me, [working on KamiErabi GOD.App] In fact, it was a feeling of complete irresponsibility. I literally felt no pressure of responsibility. It was pure fun,” Okubo said. “But if I didn’t have an ass whipping machine [Seshita] If we had been responsible and had the team in good shape, none of this would have happened.”
Jin, who was in charge of composing and music for Mayfly project Producers, he said, wanted to help shape his role in the project. Kamierabi GOD.App I thought it would be “successful” to turn it into an animated program. But when Seshita approached him, Jin said he demanded he put 100 percent of his existence into creating something “really bold and bold” that would surprise people.
“The problem is, even if someone in Japan says, ‘Okay, do what you want,’ anything goes, anything goes.” Usually they don’t mean that. I literally took them at their word and I said, ‘Literally anything goes.’ I do whatever I want,” Jin said. “Then the directors and producers said, ‘Wow, this is amazing,’ and they were kind of surprised.”
Until the last second of work Kamierabi GOD.AppJin said he had to push his own limits during the production of the anime to ensure that the anime lived up to the expectations of both him and his fellow creators.
“I think the momentum we had as a team, as well as the individual attributes we brought, contributed to our success this time,” Jin said.
Kamierabi GOD.App will be released on Crunchyroll in October.
