Each class, race, background, and origin character ripples through the world around them, causing subtle permutations, turning forgotten realms big, small, good, bad, exciting, and sometimes very bad. change direction.
What are Origin Characters? They are basically playable heroes, each with their own stories, desires, and attitudes towards the world around them. If you don’t play as them, they each become companions and you can hire them or not on your journey.
You may have already met Shadowheart, Will, Gale, Astarion, Raizel, and Karlach. Heroes with their own stories to tell, by choice as a player. Of course, you can also customize your characters to create entirely new avatars and weave their stories through the action with the same depth and responsiveness.
But today we will be looking at a completely new way to play Baldur’s Gate 3. The Dark Urge. An all-new customizable Origin, The Dark Urge allows you to create 11 races of your choice, but incorporates a unique Origin-like Dark Urge story as the backbone of your adventure.
Now that we’ve delivered a treasure trove of malevolent reactions to Baldur’s Gate, let’s talk about The Dark Urge.
Become a Dark Impulse
Dark impulses embody the darkest recesses of the moral spectrum. With its alabaster hide and giant dragonbone frame, Dark His Urge’s preset design is a striking one to glare back at with a predator’s penetrating gaze. However, this is also a fully customizable character. Its class, appearance, race and gender are entirely up to you. After all, evil can reside within anyone, regardless of appearance.
If you’ve been following the community-driven murder mystery Blood in Baldur’s Gate, you’ll know Dark Urge’s simple yet effective method of brutally and indiscriminately killing. Dark Urge is driven to commit the most despicable acts of violence you’ll encounter in the game, and playing as this character will indulge or resist the most depraved impulses. We hope this character whet the appetite of horror fans and those seeking a more sinister character to inhabit during their playthrough.
Stepping into the role of Dark Urge, Baldur’s Gate 3 begins with amnesia after an unfortunate encounter with a parasitic tadpole and his own brain. All that’s left now is an insatiable urge. An impulse that makes itself known in your subconscious, through your deepest thoughts, and through your dialogue choices. Dark Urge gives players the opportunity to explore their dark side and bring their subconscious impulses to the surface in the form of evil reactions and permutations.
Dark Urge’s customizable origin holds many secrets, but it’s up to you to discover what it is and where this brutal new darkness came from.
In the same way that an innocent squirrel hurried off a cliff meets its tragic end, so do the fleeting hopes of those ill-fated on the road. The Dark Urge is led by your dastardly and loyal servant, Sceleritas Fel, who lives only to see you return to your rightful and bloody ways. His words of encouragement act like poison on your mind, stimulating your impulses. But it’s a poison that tastes like honey, if you will.
Despite your urges as a Dark Urge, you are still a member of the party facing a difficult journey to Baldur’s Gate. Your party will do the best for you, despite your urges. And you can still build relationships and romances for the people you’ve gotten closest to. However, we’ll only know how Baldur’s Gate 3 will show up in comparison to the rest when it releases on his PlayStation 5 on September 6th.
