Into the Breach: Advanced Edition, 2018 Ultimate Game of the Year Major Free Update (Opens in a new tab)Currently live vapor (Opens in a new tab)That means you can look at a complete summary of everything that has changed.
In violation (Opens in a new tab) A small tactical game where you fight a team of powerful mechas against the relentless power to invade alien bugs. It’s a very different kind of experience, developed by a great FTL maker, but “built on the same building blocks of roguelike progression, complex ability interactions, and slow knuckle-biting tensions.” ..Scored 93% in reviews (Opens in a new tab)We call it “the most perfectly formed tactic” and this update promises to make it even bigger and better.
This is what you get:

Other changes
- Optional content toggle -If you want a base game content experience, you can turn off all new content (enemy, pilot skills, etc.) except for balancing changes.
- Reduction of weapon usage -I wanted to encourage players to try out the equipment they found right away, so I lowered the reactor power to equip most of the gear.
- Store changes -You can now equip most weapons instantly without the need for an additional core, increasing the reputation cost of purchasing weapons by 1 and limiting store options on the first two islands.
- New Weapon Mechanic: KO Effect -If the primary target is killed by an attack, certain weapons will trigger additional effects.
- New Tile Mechanical: Cracking -Certain weapons crack the ground. When the tile is damaged again, it shatters and destroys the tile and everything that stands on it.
- New status effect: Boost -This will increase the damage of the next attack by 1. Very effective against AoE attacks.
- Unlock your squad by changing coins -The cost of unlocking a squad with coins has been reduced to take into account the extra squad.
Developer Subset Games also provided some tips for players who want to take advantage of the new Unfair Mode, including being designed “for veterans looking for more challenges”. Most of them can be summarized as “losing as effectively as possible”, and no, I’m not kidding:
- Strategic losses are more important as damage is unavoidable in more situations. In some situations, it may be better to lose power on the grid, sacrifice the pilot, or fail to achieve the mission objectives.
- The power gain of the grid is doubled. This means it’s much easier to pull back from the brink of defeat. Don’t give up after some setbacks.
- Due to the limited number of Veks that can be spawned, it may be advantageous to stay alive rather than wipe out weak Veks early.
Into the Breach: Advanced Edition is a free update for all players. If you’re not a player yet, but want to be a player, Into the Breach is now For sale on Steam (Opens in a new tab) For $ 10 / £ 8 / € 10. The mobile version is also available for Android and iOS devices, but unfortunately it is reserved exclusively for Netflix subscribers. This is a disappointing (but to be honest, probably very advantageous) bit of a subscription-based monopoly, and I hope it will pass soon.
