One of the easiest ways to ensure that I enjoy the game is to have fun around me. It doesn’t matter if you jump from one building to another in an open world game like this: control Or find my optimal strategic placement Hornworm As long as I enjoy traveling from A to B on the Ninja Rope, I’m a happy camper. By adding grappling hooks to the 3D collection platformer, the HellPie developers have almost completed my year.
Our hero (and I use the term very loosely) Nate is not very respected in hell. He is responsible for the eighth deadly sins, a hobby, and does not seem to have much responsibility at Sin Inc. When Satan personally asks him to arrange a pie for his next birthday party, a small chunky kelb called a Nugget is assigned and sent to Earth to collect materials. ..
Travel long distances on a lift to reach Earth and you’ll be greeted by a bright and expansive hub area full of collectibles, sub-levels and fascinating locals. There you can test the wonderful power of Nate.Like most platform protagonists, he can jump, double jump, and dash a little, but with the help of a baby Donald Trump The look-alike companion makes his maneuverability much more interesting.
By using the nugget as a kind of aerial anchor point, Nate can swing from the chain connecting the duo to tackle any kind of location. It’s a simple enough concept, but it’s just magic when you find a collectible on the other side of an impossible-looking gap and nail the perfect combination of swing and dash to reach it.
Your main purpose at Helpai is to collect enough material for your baking quest, but shiny shit fans will have a lot to keep them busy. Each hub area and substage has a list of collectibles you can find, from cans of candy meat to golden beckoning cats. Hiding in hard-to-reach places requires your baby to have the power to shake everything, but doing so with all sorts of new powers will pay off.
Cans are the most important of all collectibles as they can upgrade the power of Nate and Nuggets in the Skill Tree. By default, you can only swing once from a cherubim ally before landing on solid ground, but with a full upgrade you will be able to swing 5 times in combination with all kinds of aerial maneuvers, and in fact any environment. You can fly around. It’s a very enjoyable experience, and although it will sometimes trivial the difficulties you will have too much fun to take care of.
Other important unlockables include horn upgrades obtained by finding sheep to sacrifice on the altar. By tearing enough horns from their adorable faces (it’s scary enough to hear), you’re empowered to help your quest. The first horn can guide you to places of interest in the world of hubs, but eventually you can sprint at super-fast speeds, horns that break walls, and even glowing horns to help you in the dark. You will get it. Most of these abilities are very useful, but by the end of the game, when you can work almost anywhere without sweating, the late game abilities you unlock are pretty overwhelming.
As you can guess from the dismemberment of animals, Helpai is a very crude game. Humor is very reminiscent of early flash animations on the internet, with lots of poop jokes, intense gore, and terrible humor. You already know if you’re grateful for this, but playing a video game that allows you to swing a fat baby with real Nazi feces is very fresh in a world full of very serious emotional games. I personally felt.
Crude oil doesn’t mean that Helpai isn’t full of ideas. Each of the more linear sublevels has a theme, all of which are very creative. There is a psychedelic drug fuel stage where you’ll see you fight an addicted lizard to help a drug trafficker regain his mansion. Another stage is inside the whale, with a community of people hacking inside the whale to make delicious sushi. The two levels are not the same and the imagination on display honestly reminded me psychologist The game (though it was filtered considering that a 14 year old boy is trying to gross out his friends).
I absolutely loved the time with Helpai, but it’s not without its drawbacks. Some of the collectibles are small, and even the PS5 I had a hard time finding them until I actually came over them. Also, in the middle of the 8-12 hour game, unlocked all required abilities from the skill tree. This meant that I was a little less satisfied (and much less needed) to find the collectibles.
Hell Pie is a fun experience for fans of 3D platformers, and its movements are unmatched by other players. It’s easy to look down on toilet humor and collectorson gameplay, but Hell Pie knows what it is and is very pleased that it exists.
