Transstreamer Clara’Keffals’ Solrenti claims to have been banned from Twitch for 28 days after trying to showcase examples of abuses thrown at left-behind creators.
Solenti has compiled a list of “homosexual hatred and transphobic slurs” she has received over the years and intended to shed and discuss abuse. However, shortly before the broadcast was scheduled, Solenti tweeted that it was suspended from Twitch because it was the victim of a mass report campaign and included a thumbnail image of the list of issues. This was a technical violation of Twitch’s slur ban.
Sorrenti instead streamed on YouTube and challenged the ban, but yesterday announced that Twitch had rejected her proceedings. “I’ve been banned for another 28 days to see a list of nasty slurs actually thrown at me by Bigot,” she tweeted in the aftermath of the decision.
Solenti told PCG that he understands “why Twitch is implementing the policies it needs to implement to prevent hate speech from normalizing.” But she added, “it is against the platform’s goals to stop people left out of society from speaking in opposition to the abuse they have suffered by being prominent on the platform.”
Solenti said Twitch hasn’t been in contact with her about the ban since she refused the appeal. I contacted Twitch for comment, but I’ll update it if I get a reply.

Twitch has been in the news quite a bit lately. They reportedly don’t think too generously about splitting revenue with creators, and their big stars are in the habit of being fooled by YouTube. The seemingly self-harming anger of how the platform treats its marginalized stars can’t be any worse.
