I’ve been following Multiversus since it was first leaked online a few months ago. Super Smash Bros. has finally ended DLC support, and Nickelodeon All-Star Broll … well, a half-baked game … I definitely feel that this genre is ripe for something big to fill the gap.
I don’t think anyone expected the All-Star Broll to react. I don’t think Nickelodeon would get the reaction it did – if so, they would have included voice acting because they had the opportunity to make a bank in this game.
Nickelodeon has a calm history of mediocre and affordable bin-style game design approaches and wants to make a small return on their investment without spending a fortune on production.
Next is Warner Bros.
So Warner Bros decided that he wanted a piece of pie and said, “Hey, we own 50 billion IPs. Let’s put em in a fighting game. Uh … because we like money. is.”
And now we’re here – Multiversus is the title of the once rumored game to be announced in 2022 with suspiciously high quality “leaked” screenshots. ..
Multiversus feels like a direct reaction to the praise Nickelodeon AllStar Brawl received before its launch. The more they directly mention the talent of the voice working on the game, the more they go to the new trailer.
They made sure to check all the same boxes that the Nickelodeon team did when developing the game. This includes online reliability and how to support future games with additional DLC.
But here’s the problem-I’m already worried about this game. why?
Space Jam: A New Legacy came out a few months ago, and a lot of money to advertise hell from Warner Bros. IP?
Yes, that’s why.
Don’t get me wrong. I know that almost every Super Smash Bros. game is about to become a marketing tool for those who make it.
Do you think people were demanding that Viles be DLC in the game? Of course not – Nintendo just wanted to sell more copies of the new Fire Emblem.
The point is that games are products, and you need to sell them to grow them. These companies want to make a profit, and that’s okay.
I think Super Smash Bros. has always done a good job of prioritizing game design over profit, at least in base games. First, they make a really great fighting game that everyone can enjoy at all levels. They fill it with fun and recognizable characters, add lots of little secrets and modes to keep you playing, and then pitch hell with DLC. It doesn’t bother me.
I think Nickelodeon did the opposite. They had a small, relatively unknown team of developers, and they always made the fighting games they wanted to make. Something for competitive, high-level fans. It was a lot of love, but they didn’t try to appeal to a wide audience, and the companies that supported the game gave them the resources they needed to make more sophisticated products. Did not give to. All Star Brawl is not a bad game. It’s kind of bland, and if you’re not playing a competitive game, you’ll quickly get bored.
My fear of Multiversus is to become Space Jam 2 in video game format. A product that has been invested millions of dollars to provide a spectacle of recognizable characters and sell people before playing. themselves.
I’ve already seen YouTube’s comment that this game is better than Smash Bros. The game that had its first trailer today – NOBODY hasn’t played yet and has already advertised it as “better than Smash Bros.”
Did you know that people in other games said they were “better than Super Smash Bros.”? Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. And see what it looks like.
There are certainly possibilities for a really fun game, so I honestly hope this game will be great. Warner Bros. has virtually unlimited numbers of IPs available in this game, comparable to Nintendo’s more than 80 character rosters accumulated over the last two decades.
There are a few things I’m worried about based on what I’ve seen in the Ribir trailer, but the biggest thing that bothers me is how the game … yeah … can be played for free.
Tell me what you do about playing the game for free, but I rarely see the concept work. Some games, like the Rocket League and Warframe, leave the base game intact and only choose to buy cosmetics that work well with the concept, but you still only pay $ 60 to get the full game. .. At the time of release. What are the options to pay for all content, like a regular game?
The developers have announced that the game is “free to play-additional DLC will be available after release”. It gives me the impression that the game launches with a small roster of playable characters, and based on the success of that launch, they continue to go the way you can get and add characters-you Know, with real money.
The problem I have with these free game models is that they are being abused. I think Warner Bros. is the kind of company that absolutely takes advantage of people’s needs to own all the costumes and play as all the characters.
Taking Path of Exile as an example, I love the game, but I think microtransactions are completely wrong. The game, like Warframe, only offers cosmetic upgrades for characters. This is better than some games I’ve played. However, the cost of these cosmetics is sneaky. We’re looking at $ 20 per piece for most of the basic effects, including new helmets, bulletproof vests, cloaks, and wings.
They even have pets that can follow you in the game. It ranges from a $ 5 purchase to $ 80 in 4 packs of different colors and must be purchased together to get your pet.
After all, it’s up to Warner Bros. to decide how to handle these microtransactions, but I think the free-to-play model would be too greedy.
There are a few other things I’m curious about the game. Visually, the game … looks strange. Not bad, but everything is blocky and cartoonish. Suitable for simple characters whose designs already blend into this style, such as Adventure Time’s Jake and Bugs Bunny, but if the game includes Batman and …, this sentence is taken seriously. I can’t believe it … Arya Stark … Find the right balance for everyone. This is what I think Smash Bros. did pretty well, but these characters look as bad here as the two-week characters.
Of course, it’s a shame that the game will be released on all other major platforms, including PlayStation 4, but the switch will be skipped. The reason for not publishing a Super Smash Bros.-style game on the Nintendo console is daunting to me.
I know that developing a Nintendo system can be a daunting and time-consuming task, but if you’re already paying for voice actors like Tara Strong or John DiMaggio, it’s obviously extra. It costs money to make an effort and make a game stand out, so why not target the most obvious audience of such a game? What you know, eat this like a candy.
The game seems to be configured so that the fighter has a “class”. Most fighters fit well into their assigned roles. For example, Steven Universe’s Garnet is a Bruiser that suits her fighting style. Both Finn and Harley Quinn are called “assassins.” This seems to mean that you are using weapons such as swords and hammers, and you are probably fighting like Link.
It broke me when I saw Bugs Bunny and saw him identified as a “mage / remote” fighter.
I think the most exciting thing is to see how each character’s special abilities work in team play. The game seems to focus on 2v2 gameplay, and each character has its own movements that can be used to support allies or hurt enemies. Stephen can protect his teammates with his bubbles, Bugs Bunny can create a tunnel that his companions can use, and Shaggy can … sigh. The weirdest humor you can imagine.
I know I’ve covered a lot of negatives in this video, but I really hope this game will surprise me and make it special. Over the years, there have been a lot of Super Smash Bros. style games, but I’ve never played a game that really came close to the quality of Nintendo. I hope this will eventually give the game a run for that money.
But i left First trailer I feel hungry. As soon as the game moved from rumors and speculation to serious work, warning bells began to ring in my head about all the ways the game could go wrong right away.
I’m on the lookout for this and want the best, but the fact that I can’t play it on the switch probably doesn’t give me as much play time as something like an All-Star Broll. Means, you can pick it up and play anywhere. Still, once the game is great, I’m sure I’ll grab it with steam and run it over and over again with every character in any version of the campaign mode of this game. ..
