Sony seems to have officially stopped reporting Shipment of PS4provided the last update in March 2022. As spotted by Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, this means that lifetime PS4 sales totals, as stated in Sony’s latest financial report, will be ~ The PS4 didn’t quite surpass the PS2’s sales record of over 155 million, but it was a big turnaround for Sony from the PS3 era.

Sony has faced little competition from its biggest rival, Microsoft, during the last generation. Nintendo isn’t directly competing with Sony or Microsoft, but when it comes to the numbers game, it’s the Switch that’s clearly on track to beat the previous generation. We have sold 111 million consoles. By the end of the current fiscal year, it should be able to surpass the PS4’s lifetime total.Amid the “Switch Pro” rumors, Nintendo has yet to announce a successor.
For reference, along with the Nintendo DS (154 million units) and the PlayStation 2 (over 155 million units as of March 2012), only the Game Boy and Game Boy Color (if combined like Nintendo) sell more (118.7 million units).

What does this mean for PS4 support? No worries, but Sony has indicated no plans to unplug the PS4 support service. The company is still releasing first-party games for its beloved system, with plenty of third-party games on the horizon.
