No more losing everything because of bricks.
Splatoon’s website confirmed some details about how save games are handled in Splatoon 3, and offered an incentive to reboot the original.
After Splatoon 2’s infamous inability to backup save data to the cloud backup provided by Nintendo Switch Online, Splatoon 3 will support a combination of cloud backup and server-side progression. Single player data is subject to backup, but multiplayer data is associated with the applicable Nintendo Account and stored server-side. According to the website, this includes “a player’s level, rank, items, and gear.”
If a Splatoon 2 save exists on the same Switch, players will receive a “Gold Sheldon Ticket” that can be used to unlock in-game weapons regardless of level, instant access to Anarchy Battle mode, spawn at level 1 Move up the ranks instead of trying and matchmaking with players of a similar skill level.
