I don’t have much to say on this, but if you only play Overwatch on PC, you can safely ignore this entire post and move on to other things. But if not (playing on multiple platforms and with multiple accounts), this is for you: A detailed explanation of how cross-progression works in Overwatch 2. (opens in new tab)This merges your console and PC Overwatch accounts into a single comprehensive profile that includes everything you’ve accomplished so far in the game (with some limitations).
Overwatch now requires a Battle.net account regardless of the platform you’re playing on. This is still true in Overwatch 2. However, instead of having separate accounts for each platform, starting today players will be able to link their accounts. Merge your console account with your Battle.net account so you can merge Overwatch 2 when it goes live. In that case, all progress and decorations earned from those accounts will be combined into a single cross-platform Overwatch 2 profile.
It looks pretty simple overall, but there are some important caveats. PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch accounts can be merged, but each platform only includes one account, so if you have two accounts on PC, for example, you can’t merge them. You can change or modify the console account associated with your Battle.net account prior to merging. In fact, Blizzard said: Account” because you can only shoot once.
As mentioned above, if you only play Overwatch on PC, there is nothing you can do here. Your Overwatch progress will automatically carry over to Overwatch 2 on your Battle.net account. That’s all. On the other hand, if you’re a multi-platform player who doesn’t want to merge accounts for whatever reason, that’s a “too bad” situation. Perhaps until you give up and merge your accounts or give up and find a new hobby.
