The developers at Santa Monica Studios have been harassed and abused on social media due to the lack of news and some delays in God of War Ragnarok. Barlog has been known to openly endorse the team, denounce harmfulness, and repeatedly ask social media users to respect the developer. His tweet above seemed to come out of nowhere, with followers speculating another delay would be announced and Barlog likely gearing up for another round of backlash.
In a separate exchange with a follower, Barlog apparently dismissed a suggestion that a new God of War Ragnarok trailer would be released soon.
God of War Ragnarok’s marketing was weird for a Sony first-party game. With little gameplay seen and not much fanfare, Sony announced the game’s release date, special editions, and pre-order information in a PlayStation blog entry. And given the fact that God of War Ragnarok is only three months away from its release, fans are wondering what’s going on behind the scenes.
The latest rumors say the PlayStation State of Play will take place in September, so expect to see something soon.
In other news, the Days Gone devs didn’t seem too happy with their choice of actor for the film’s lead character, Deacon St. John, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s release date may have been leaked.
