Action and comic book fans have been waiting for Sylvester Stallone to make his superhero debut SamaritanSo was it worth all that persevering?ok first review Samaritan So far the consensus is overwhelming…maybe. Let’s start with The Hollywood Reporter’s Frank Scheck, who found a lot out of Stallone’s central performance, even if the rest of the film wasn’t well-measured.
“Stallone delivers just the right amount of world-weary gravity and deadpan humor to top the hokey material.”
TheWrap’s William Viviani was more positive in his reaction to Stallone’s superhero stylings, praising the project for bringing something new to a tired genre.
“It’s like an old hunk of junk that has been repaired and cleaned up and made new again, and worth paying full price for.”
Flickering Myth’s Robert Kojder felt similarly and applauded. Samaritan For the variety of perspectives and the ability to balance tough adventures and family adventures.
“This is a hangout movie between juveniles and washed-up superheroes, a respite from what the genre usually offers. Samaritan is neither dark nor straight-up kids’ movie. It’s somewhere between that unusual perspective and the fun.
Alex Maidy of JoBlo found a lot to love Samaritanrated the film a decent 7/10, calling the superhero outing “a good action movie, but a mediocre superhero story.”
“The Samaritan is a good action movie, but it’s a mediocre superhero story. Another kind of origin story, this movie was a great performance late in Sylvester Stallone’s career, and it’s been around 20 years since this project came to fruition.” It just proves how likely he was to lead a comic book franchise if he did.”
Variety’s Owen Gleiberman wasn’t too enamored Samaritan, calling it “basic”, but praises some of the film’s elements. “Samaritan” is so basic that it looks like a video game movie someone forgot to add his CGI. But the movie has a very nice twist and Stallone brings atmosphere to the movie in his way…”
Slashfilm’s Sarah Bea Milner, on the other hand, had a blast. Samaritan Flavors of a B-movie saying, “Samaritan is a B-movie with B-movie problems, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy watching it.”

Of course, much like the good and bad of superhero stories, the positive cannot be expressed without the negative. IGN’s Siddhant Adrakha is the latter. Samaritan Say 4/10…
“Sylvester Stallone doesn’t seem thrilled to play a superhero in Samaritan, a hodgepodge of non-ideas borrowed from better movies.”
Empire’s John Nugent praised Stallone’s work, but found no compelling reason. Samaritan exist.
“In a crowded market, it takes a lot for a new superhero movie to stand out. Despite Sylvester Stallone’s solid work, it’s unclear what Samaritan is bringing to the table.” .”
Finally, The Guardian’s Benjamin Lee criticized the script for not giving Stallone enough work.
“Stallone reuses the grizzled ex-fighter Orca from both Creed films, but the dimensions are much lower here, and through no fault of his own, the puddle-shallow script gives him the real Grizz or I’m sharing with Schutt, who doesn’t give gristle.”
