The Core controller doesn’t come with a charging case full of replaceable thumbsticks, directional pads, and paddles. Usually bundled with the original controller. Elite Series 2 Controller (opens in new tab)A complete component pack must be purchased separately. for $60 (opens in new tab).
However, it does come with a thumbstick adjustment tool to fine tune the joystick tension, and a USB-C charging cable. Not including the component pack is a good way to ensure someone gets a good controller and doesn’t spend close to $200.
The Elite Series 2 doesn’t have a share button yet. Instead, the middle button toggles between controller profiles. I mostly play PC games so I don’t use the share button, but if you use it on the Xbox Series X/S, you’ll have to dig through a few menus.
The new Elite Series 2 Core controller will be available on September 23rd and is available for pre-order now. This holiday, the Elite Series 2 controller will be added to the Xbox DesignLab, allowing you to customize your controller’s color scheme. Microsoft didn’t disclose, but the DesignLab Series S/X controller is priced at $69.99, about $10 more than the standard controller. As such, Microsoft may follow a similar pricing plan for the Elite Series 2 Core DesignLab controller.
