Xbox Game Pass members can now play the Early Access version of Disney’s Dreamlight Valley.
It’s a dark and stormy night in Disney’s Dreamlight Valley. Thunder rumbles and flashes of lightning over Mickey Mouse’s house, casting my shadow on the front door — the outline of a pickaxe-armed figure silently waiting for Mickey to wake up. I’m not here to kill Mickey Mouse, despite all the evidence to the contrary. When he wakes up, I’ll ask him to hang out. He accepts, thinking maybe we’ll have a good time cooking and gardening together, but that’s not the case. I call him out the moment he walks out and let him follow me on his endless mining quest for gems to sell in Goofy’s Stall — Scrooge McDuck’s shop has the teapot I’m eyeing, Nothing even Mickey Mouse’s personal schedule gets in my way. Despite my villainous capitalist design of the teapot, Disney Dreamlight Valley is actually quite light-hearted. The theme is friendship, magic, and the idea of working for everyone. There are so many things you can collect in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and so many ways to earn them. It’s too early to tell if this will become overly repetitive and cumbersome in the future. This is his first impression piece, and based only on the first few hours, I’m having a great time at Disney’s Dreamlight Valley.
Like many other life sims, in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you escape the stress of city life and relax in the peaceful countryside, where you somehow end up in Dreamlight Valley. Where once prosperity is now shrouded in nightthorn and darkness. Right after that we meet Merlin. Merlin explains how oblivion caused the valley’s inhabitants to flee, stay behind, and lose their memories. ) Merlin thinks our character has the magic needed to remove the thorns of the night, save the valley, and take back the valley. residents. At this point, you have customized your character to your liking. At first I wore a plain white shirt and jeans, but this was quickly rectified. New clothes are scattered throughout the valley, and you can get more items by leveling up your friendship with the residents. Alternatively, you can purchase from Scrooge’s shop or design from scratch using the Touch of Magic customization tools. With Merlin’s guidance, we begin to claim our home, explore the valley, and set things right.
huge amount of thing A little overwhelming at first. Star Coins, Dreamlights, Dream Shards, Night Shards, Moonstones for Star Pass (similar to Battle Pass in Disney Dreamlight Valley edition), Gems, Crops, Seeds, Resources, Clothing, Furniture, Memories Fragments, Recipes etc. I’m still hoarding most of it as I figure out what I can use for everything but starcoins seem to be the main currency to buy everything but dreamlights unlock new biomes It’s a resource that you use to trough. 5,000 Star Coins for your first backpack upgrade?! — but you’ll make a good amount by selling gems to Goofy, completing small Nightthorns, leveling up friendships and earning bundles The meals I’ve made so far don’t seem to sell very well, instead being more useful as a gift to quickly boost friendships. Don’t forget to claim the gift of “Welcome to Dreamlight Valley” which includes a treat-covered crocodile.
I’m divided on how much this game grinds. I often run out of energy, but there are always apples and other fruits around that I can eat to replenish and I get back on pretty quickly. It’s easy to grow and keep yourself busy with many other tasks in the game while waiting for them. However, this can be even more frustrating later in the game. Once you reach level 2 friendship with a character, you can invite that character to hang out with you and give them certain bonuses. You intend to grow friendships out of feelings of love and tenderness, but I allow you to feed these relationships. Level 5 required her 3 friends. So I briefly fell into a loop of forcing myself to eat fruit salad and grilled vegetables. Oh, Scrooge McDuck wants iron ingots and topaz? Out of luck, he got another fruit his salad. Characters also have their own schedules, and there are times when they sleep. Perhaps you’ll stick around until they wake up if you need them to advance the plot. Learn new recipes for crafting and earn more furniture items with various rewards. You can freely create and place these items wherever you like, and redesign the valley whenever your mood changes. On the plus side, this decoration has a lot of freedom. On the downside, the controls for arranging furniture and buildings, as well as decorating clothes, are currently very cumbersome and unwieldy.
Dreamlight Valley will keep you busy exploring, gathering resources, farming, cooking, decorating, crafting, building friendships, and helping each character. While there is a main quest to restore Dreamlight Valley and undo the effects of oblivion, each character has their own quest, making it easy to see how Disney Dreamlight Valley is frequently updated with new content. Disney Dreamlight Valley’s charming “starting from scratch” idea has proven to be very appealing in other life sims. There is an irresistible urge to help clean up the valley and sort out everyone’s problems. Songs from your favorite Disney movies wind together as you run through each biome, and the characters themselves sometimes refer to familiar story events. It would be easy to deck this game with Disney paraphernalia and count on that strong nostalgia to do the game’s job.
The potential of this game is greatly reflected in the achievements of Disney Dreamlight Valley. No matter how much fun you have, collecting 1.8 million Star Coins, harvesting 4,500 vegetables, removing 3,000 Nightthorns, and starting 1,000 discussions each day will take a lot of time. Now enjoying the core gameplay loop. Cleaning up Night Thorns is a lot of fun and I always feel like I have a lot to do. The only question is how long will this take to get old.
Overview
It’s not clear if Disney Dreamlight Valley will become repetitive and boring in the future, but judging by the time spent playing the game in Early Access and the fact that it’s available on Xbox Game Pass No need) Real Star Coins), make this a free pass.
