As part of its annual D23 event, Disney held a showcase today to showcase several upcoming games published directly by the company and from its publishing partners.
- The project, which was shelved in 2016 when Disney last left the gaming industry, has been revived as an apparent Switch exclusive.Disney Illusion Island is a four-player co-op announced only for a 2023 release on Switch It’s a platformer. It was developed by Dlala, a studio based in Essex, England. Dlala’s most famous work is his 2019 Microsoft reboot of Battletoads, backing Modus’ Lost Words: Beyond the Page and Team17’s published The Escapists.
- Former WiiWare developer Empty Clip Studio (Groovin’ Blocks) is working on a remastered version of the 1995 Genesis Gargoyles game, but no release date has been given.
- A new DLC for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been announced. This includes his upcoming Star Wars: Andor, Star Wars: Rebels, and Clone Wars animated characters. The pack will launch on his November 1st.
- Another trailer for Return to Monkey Island, set to release on September 19, has been revealed, as well as a short for Marvel’s Midnight Suns prequel, which begins airing on October 31 (the Switch version of Midnight Suns is not yet available on no release date).
- New content announced for the recently released Disney Dreamlight Valley (adding the world of Toy Story) and the next racer Disney Speed Storm (Monsters, Inc.).
