Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe is the most cryptic of the titles announced at today’s Ubisoft Forward 2022 showcase. A brief teaser shows a wooden sculpture hanging from a tree that instantly evokes The Blair Witch Project. This is paired with the name “Hexe”, which seems to indicate that this is a title related to witchcraft.

A tweet posted alongside the Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe trailer hinted that “we are working in the dark.” Along with the teaser, this pretty much thickens that this game has something to do with witches.
Perhaps Hexe is a spin-off replacing Assassin Brotherhood with coven. The relationship between assassins and the Templars is no different than what we’ve seen between witches and witch hunters in other media, so this concept is a perfect fit for the series.
Unfortunately, we didn’t really get a hint of what the game was about other than a rough concept. I hope Hexe takes us to interesting places, like Salem during the witch trials of 1692-1693.
In other news, The Division Heartland has finally gone live and Midnight Sons has a new release date.
