Santa, hell, vampires? In other games, this is a very strange combination. However, this is Sam and Max we’re talking about, and Santa’s Exorcism is another classic case of a dynamic duo. Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space Remastered is as much fun as Ozzy Osbourne’s crazy trains. Suffice it to say that weirdness is in their veins.
The game offers the same visual and audio improvements as its predecessor, and like its predecessor, it performs significantly on both counts. Updated lighting and additional camera angles make the sequel feel fresh without losing the charm of the original. Developer Skunkape’s makeover also includes a new soundtrack that shines with improved audio.
A remaster that retains all the original story beats and gameplay elements. Therefore, I would like to expect a humorous development unique to Sam & Max. However, this also means that jokes related to the mid-2000s are more or less obsolete in this restoration. The humor is hit and miss, but the puzzles are top notch. The first season’s puzzles were pretty fun, but this second season of him has some head-scratching puzzles. The lead-up to their solution is more illogical, and adding to map all interactive objects is not enough to understand their logic.
Beyond the puzzle conundrum, the second season offers more reasons to make the series a hit. Fans of the first season will have a blast with this second run. You don’t have to play the first one to hop on this wagon, but strongly because there are many reappearing characters and in-game jokes and references you might miss if you haven’t played the first one yet. It is recommended.
