The past few years have been rife with game delays, but since the Covid-era of game development, we’ve seen a different trend: games announced. For real Hire talent early. Developers big and small can’t wait to tell us about their upcoming games. We always want to know more.
Below is an overview of the 12 mystery projects. A game that is known to exist in some form but has not yet been fully revealed. Not a single game has a title yet, but ultimately he could be the biggest game of 2023 and he of 2024.
Creative Assembly’s “New Action Game” and Mystery Project
Job title: not clear
Previously covered: August 26, 2022
Creative Assembly has many scopes. From the Total War series to Alien: Isolation to the recently announced tactical PvP shooter Hyenas, it seems like you can do just about anything. With that in mind, it seems only natural to be excited about his two mystery projects for CA. first, “New action game” Developed by the Bulgarian Wing of the capital Sofia. Game job postings include Gameplay his programmer and Technical his designer.
Creative Assembly has previously posted the following vacancies: Another Mysterious Project, Senior Gameplay Programmer, Lead Technical Designer, and a list of Project Technical Directors, there are very few details. It’s a key role, so it’s reasonable to assume that when the job postings were posted in May, they weren’t that far in development.
Studio ZA/UM’s next game
Job title: not clear
Previously covered: July 30, 2022
Estonian underdog studio ZA/UM gambled the farm at Disco Elysium and their crazy gamble paid off. ZA/UM is currently raising funding and has another game in the pipeline. Although details are limited, early job postings for environmental artists mention some interesting facts about the project. We are looking for an artist who understands urban planning and architecture, loves science fiction and all things space-based, and has an understanding that “there is more to heaven and earth than can be dreamed of in philosophy”. .
Who knows if this means the next project will branch out into an entirely new setting, or further expand the slightly dreamy alternate-earth Elysium. Our current job listings include vacancies for Lead Game Designer (an attractive role) and Unity-based development roles, including a space for Senior Unity Gameplay Programmers.
CD Projekt Red’s next Witcher game
Job title: Unknown (but it’s a witcher game)
Previously covered: September 2022
With a third season on TV, a strong card battle spin-off, and a third main game still drawing audiences across multiple platforms, it’s no surprise that CD Projekt Red will return to The Witcher universe. That’s it.
We know the game won’t technically be called The Witcher 4, but that’s enough for now. says it works. One teaser image on the CDPR site Also, there is one interesting detail. This is the Lynx school emblem, not Geralt’s wolf medallion. They are a faction of witchers previously only seen in fan fiction. A potentially intriguing plot hook, suggesting that Geralt is not the focus of this new story.
League of Legends Fighting Games & MMOs
Job title: “Project L” and none
Last covered: August 19, 2022 and April 21, 2022 respectively
Back in 2016, League of Legends studio Riot aimed to broaden its horizons by acquiring several smaller studios, including Radiant Entertainment, developers of the promising indie fighting game Rising Thunder. was
Project L is its crew’s League of Legends fighting game spin-off. The final title is yet to be finalized, but everything else about ‘Project L’ seems to be coming together nicely, along with a dev diary video and some gameplay clips of him in full release in August. it was done. Riot also confirmed that it is free to play (similar to League).
While we don’t have detailed information on Project L’s combat mechanics, I would be surprised if Rising Thunder’s biggest idea was left out completely. MOBAs are like (you guessed it) League of Legends. The idea was to make a genre that usually has a lot of execution more accessible to newcomers. This is what I want you to come back to.
Another big (and more secretive) project from Riot is an MMO set in Runeterra’s League of Legends world. Executive producer Greg Street, who was first quietly teased in 2018, recently confirmed that the project is alive and “on track.” Still, as Street said the first playtest is “not soon,” don’t sit around waiting to play this one. Personally, I prefer fighting games.
Hideo Kojima Mystery Project with Xbox Game Studios
Job title: not clear
Last covered: June 12, 2022
The name and influence of Metal Gear and Death Stranding director Hideo Kojima is still big, when the man announced he was working with Microsoft to create a “never-before-seen concept.” seems wise to pay attention.
Although it was announced at the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase this summer, there are still very few concrete details about the project. However, Kojima spoke of “Microsoft’s cutting-edge cloud technology” and said the game has already been in production for some time. It’s hard to believe it’s Death Stranding 2, which hasn’t been announced in .
Blizzard’s Fantasy Survival Game
Job title: unreleased survival game
Last covered: January 25, 2022
Blizzard is not a studio in a hurry. Its last completely new game was Overwatch, released in 2016. Its next appearance appears to be some sort of fantasy survival sandbox based on what appears to be an entirely new fantasy setting.
An accompanying job posting states that the game will be a big-budget triple-A release on both PC and consoles, but little else. Hiring was massive in January, with the entire staff in mid-to-senior level positions in art, design and software engineering being hired.
Remedy’s Upcoming Control Multiplayer Spinoff and Project Vanguard
Job title: Project Condor & Project Vanguard
Last covered: June 29, 2021
Max Payne and Control studio’s Remedy are on fire, including a sequel to Alan Wake, a remake of Max Payne 1 and 2 combined, and a likely (if not yet fully confirmed) sequel to Control. I have many irons. I have two more mysterious projects. A multiplayer-focused control spin-off and a free-to-play shooter codenamed Project Vanguard.
We know Project Condor best.I have single teaser image, but Remedy feels it “represents what Condor is all about.”So we probably A team of overworked, underpaid agents watch a four-player co-op game looking for otherworldly threats to bag, tag, and drag home to the Administration Bureau. It’s such a fun setting that I’m curious to see what everyday life is like for Growl without magical powers or shape-shifting superweapons.
Not much is known about Project Vanguard. Intentionally vague project site (billed as an Unreal 4-based “multiplayer live game”), it will be released under the banner of Chinese mega-label Tencent. It seems so I’m lateaccording to the studio’s recent Business News post.
MachineGames’ commitment to Indiana Jones
Job title: Unknown, but it’s an Indiana Jones game
Last covered: June 28, 2021
Machinegames, which just cut its teeth on the rebooted Wolfenstein series, looks to offer a new set of virtual Nazis to shoot, punch, and (presumably) submit to. Thin.
The new game will be published under the Bethesda banner (now a subsidiary of Microsoft), moody trailer Indy’s desk was littered with some interesting information. There’s a lot for fans to chew on, but nothing concrete.A few items feel like cheeky Easter eggs rather than hints about the game’s setting. It’s been around for a while, but I believe MachineGames has it.
James Bond games from IO Interactive
Job title: Project 007
Last covered: November 19, 2020 (opens in new tab)
IO Interactive couldn’t have picked a better continuation to their Hitman trilogy than James Bond, and after years (decades, really) of mediocre Bond games, this one is a good choice. Expectations are high for. It was announced in late 2020 and we haven’t seen or heard about it since, but given how detailed IO’s games tend to be, it’s still a year or two in development I guess.
According to IO’s official website, Project 007 will be a “completely original Bond story”, specifically an origin story. IO’s vacancies indicate he’s taking on a number of roles in Project 007 and another unannounced game. Wondering what it is?
Crafton’s unpublished project
Job title: bird drinking tears
Last covered: September 20, 2022
Of all the games here, this is the one we have the most information about, proving the existence of PUBG publisher Krafton’s. “Unannounced Projects” page Feels a bit ironic, especially since it starts out grim and brutal “Visual Concept Trailer”
What you’re probably looking at here is some form of RPG, action, or whatever, based on the Korean fantasy best-seller Bird Drinking Tears. In the trailer, the novel’s protagonist, Kagan Draka, sets off in search of Naga, a cold-blooded reptilian race who has vowed her revenge.
The project site also mentions that Kagan will fight alongside Rekkon warriors (giant anthropomorphic chicken breeds) and Tokebi sorcerers (goblin-like people) to easily set up a party-based RPG. That seems like the game’s most likely trajectory, given the art on the teaser site shows them traveling together. ‘s hiring of an executive producer was also mentioned, which feels like another clear piece of the puzzle.
