welcome to dark quest 3, available today on Xbox! Here are some gameplay tips.
first time running
Your starting hero is dark quest 3 Barbarian, Dwarf, Archer, and Wizard. How you allocate hero upgrades has a big impact on how far you can reach each run. You start by putting a point on him one of the Dwarven barrels. This is a secondary action, meaning you can still perform attack actions afterward.
Barrels attract attention and monsters attack barrels. All monsters have a priority target (closest, lowest health, highest health, lined up). Barrels must still follow these rules.
The barbarian throwing ax is basically a free range attack. Try to put the point there immediately afterwards.
Next is Archer’s surprise attack. When combat begins, shooters shoot random enemies. This attack benefits from all equipment and modifiers.
Finally, you’ll need an AOE. The Wizard’s Lightstorm is one of the most powerful cards in the game, killing multiple enemies when you reach a high level, especially if you have several Rings of Power equipped.
General strategy
- Don’t waste your reroll on pointless events. If a hero becomes poisoned or takes 1 damage, simply accept it. Instead, save your rerolls for higher impact events, such as losing a hero for a few turns or doing a lot of damage.
- Always take secondary actions first in combat to gain an advantage.
- If you waste a re-roll, it’s only a matter of time before you die on the roll of the dice.
- Make sure your hero’s health isn’t depleted. You can’t control 100% what happens during a battle or card. If a hero’s health is between 1 and 3 he should expect death to come soon. Use healing potions when your hero’s health drops to critical levels, otherwise save charges.
- Unlocking new heroes is important. Many of the locked heroes have overwhelming powers and can easily lead you to glory.
heroes
Barbarian: A great all-around hero that can take some damage, but also do a lot of damage.
Dwarves: The best heroes to keep your enemies busy with barrels and your party out of danger.
Archer: This is a high damage hero, probably the one that can do the most damage in a single attack. There is also the underrated dodge card, which allows you to dodge attacks completely.
Wizards: Powerful AOE and utility cards. Lightning Storm can take out many enemies at once, and so does Tornado if you can keep enemies in line. Don’t underestimate Wizard’s default attack combined with invisible cards. His magic resistance is very useful towards the endgame.
Lancer: The first hero who can summon “pets”. Additional characters are always summoned at the start of battle, making them excellent meat shields. Her spear can damage two of her enemies in a row, and Break He can wreak havoc when many enemies line up when combined with his armor.
Prince: With this hero, you can command an ally or enemy to attack another enemy. One of the most powerful and versatile cards. If you have ranged allies around the prince, you can easily get the attack damage bonus without being on the front line.
Savager: This hero can wipe out the entire board in one action. The more points you assign to bloodthirsty, the more your Savager will automatically attack monsters when they kill them.
Lady: A powerful defensive hero. Only she can heal the party with her passive card. Her divine shield blocks all forms of damage.
Druid: This character can summon two “pets”. A big bear that hits multiple enemies and a small fox that does a lot of damage to a single target. If your party needs extra defense, you can also transform into a large tree to absorb damage while other heroes deliver the final blow.
Dwarf King: This hero also has a “pet” that helps absorb damage. In addition to that, he has a passive card that asks his allies to attack when he takes damage from enemies.
Knights: Similar to Archers, Knights can automatically attack the lowest health enemy at the start of combat with charges. If the enemy survives, his Follow Me card will require allies to attack this target as well. He’s just a very powerful hero.
Fire Mage: A devastating magic damage card and a pet that can be summoned anywhere on the battlefield.
closing note
A good party needs a high damage dealer, a way to absorb damage without getting hurt, and some form of AOE to fight many enemies. Choose your party carefully, grab your lucky dice, and embark on an adventure to confront the sorcerer and his magic.
Good luck to the students!
