A warning to anyone dashing back to The Sims 4 after yesterday Free update (Opens in a new tab).. The patch seems to contain a bug where my beloved sim suddenly auto-ages to the next stage after just a few minutes of playing, even if it’s not my birthday. Toddlers suddenly become children, teens skip troublesome years and become adults, and adults enter the midlife crisis.
It’s like everyone in The Sims 4 hugging violently past the wrong Holy Grail from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusaders. We know that time flies when you’re having fun, but it shouldn’t reach supersonic speeds.
According to the player’s report rounded up by Sims community website (Opens in a new tab)Players using the “short” and “long” life options in their households can experience bugs after just a few minutes of play time. (Players using the “normal” lifespan option do not seem to be affected.)
“I opened the house and played for about 10 minutes. When I got home, everyone was old. The kids were teens and the young adults were mostly older,” one player reported.
“After this update, all my sims aren’t birthdays, but they’re aging many times. I’ve left the game several times without saving it and continue to do that.” Said the player.
I was able to reproduce this bug in the game. I created two sims, an adult and a kid, set their lifespan to “long”, locked them in a random house, and played a bit. Dad grew older within five minutes, and the child became a teenager shortly after returning home from the first day of school. At such a speed of aging, I feel that my dad should stop making breakfast and start digging a grave next to the pool.
A little shimmers! We are currently investigating instances that include Sims auto-aging save data using Short or Long lifespans. We’re working on a solution, so it’s a good idea to play it temporarily with a default / “normal” lifetime, or create a new save.July 27, 2022
On the plus side, EA is aware of the bug and is investigating it. “Currently, Sims is investigating instances that include auto-aging save data using Short or Long lifespans. Temporary with default /” normal “lifespan as we are working towards a solution. It is recommended to play the game or create a new save data. ”
