Ubisoft has released a new take on the development of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, focusing on the protagonist Basim and his “evolution into a Master Assassin”.
Ubisoft shared some new details about Assassin’s Creed Mirage, including the fact that the progression will be “linear and story-driven” rather than “XP-based progression.”
Assassin’s Creed Mirage brings back another ‘fan-favorite feature’
Creative Director Stéphane Boudon explains: “Mirage’s story follows Basim’s evolution from apprentice to leader. That journey is reflected in the game’s mechanics. Mirage has no XP-based progression. Instead, progression is linear and story It’s driven, and as you progress through the story and complete missions, you’ll rise in rank within the Brotherhood, giving you new opportunities for missions, outfits, and tools.”
Game designer Alexandre Rosset says, “There are new tools that you can upgrade and customize for Basim, giving him a deadly and effective assassin toolset. Once fully upgraded, these tools will allow you to make interesting predictions.” It allows for outside gameplay strategies,” he added.
Ubisoft has hinted several times that it will bring back fan-favorite elements from the early Assassin’s Creed games, such as the assassination that was popular in early games of AC Mirage, but one more “fan” that will be returning. A popular feature is like a costume dye. You can use it to change the color of certain outfits, just like you can in AC2 or Brotherhood,” says artistic director Jean-Luc Sala.
According to narrative director Sarah Beaulieu, Basim was designed as a whole to be “a new twist on the classic assassin archetype”.
Ubisoft also recently announced an Assassin’s Creed Mirage Baghdad history feature with in-game rewards.
