In a recent behind-closed-doors demo, we played a section of Monster Hunter Wilds and asked the developers about changes made to weapons and other systems, the biggest being the separation of Equipment Skills between weapons and armor. Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is developer Fatshark’s take on Games Workshop’s grimdark universe and a refinement of the combat and gameplay of its earlier Vermintide titles. A first-person multiplayer cooperative game, each Darktide mission will see squads of four players (or, in their absence, AI bots) descend into the bowels of Hive City Tertium and purge the unclean Nurgle cults that dwell there. Well, we’ve reached the point with KEMCO that we now have throwbacks to their throwback RPGs. Maybe we’d reached that point already, but no game has made it feel more obvious to me than Journey to Kreisia. This JRPG in the grand KEMCO style was originally released for mobile devices in 2014, then later repackaged for the Nintendo 3DS in 2016. A decent metric to judge when a game has truly hit the mainstream is when Steam’s active sex game scene sees fit to make a parody. Congrats Helldivers 2, meet SEXDIVERS 🔞, an “intense survival shooter” releasing sometime in 2025. Yes, the emoji is in the title—I didn’t know you could do that on Steam either.While I wouldn’t say anything about Sexdivers looks fun or particularly good, I have to commend developer Octo Games for competently recreating Helldivers 2’s look in its action scenes.
