I’ve been spooked by plenty of pixel-art horror games, like Signalis or Look Outside. But I can’t think of an FMV game that’s truly frightened me. The bit in The 7th Guest where hands try to come out of the painting seemed eerie when I was a kid, but now it’s pure kitsch. FromSoftware has acknowledged matchmaking issues on Elden Ring Nightreign during its first weekend, and offered suggestions to players affected.Today, May 31, FromSoftware tweeted to address players who were struggling to find other players when launching an expedition in the multiplayer Elden Ring spin-off. If you do, try restarting the matchmaking process, FromSoftware suggested. There were a bunch of excellent-looking puzzle games revealed at this week’s Thinky Direct, including a new mystery game from one of the designers of the Case of the Golden Idol, and a time-loop based “Metroidbrainia” (a portmanteau that caused me physical pain) which swaps out tool-gathering for puzzle-solving.
